Hi.
What is the best Password Keeper on PalmOS? And why...

I think SplashID (http://splashdata.com/splashid/index.htm) is great. Why? Key reasons for me:
* It's very flexible. Comes with standard "forms" but you can customize or create new ones.
* Desktop app included so you can add/edit on desktop or on handheld
* Robust password protection
Plus you can use it for all sorts of other things, like software serial #s, caling cards, frequent flyer info, etc.

I wholeheartedly agree with hherbzilla! I switched from "Secret" to Splash ID and never regretted it.

I also use SplashID. It works well, and since the release of a PPC version, I can (rather) easily export my data to my PPC if needed.

I use yaps ! it is good and secure + freeware.. i recommend !!!
-256bit encryption
-Good and simple interfase
-category options
-FREEWARE
you can find it from www.palmgear.com !
If you don't like yaps, there is also in palmgear this ultrasoft datashield. It is so good that you can't believe it, however it does cost.

i also find spashID to be the best, and now it is cross platform.
also check out splash's bundle package offer.
Maybe you'll wait for Swordfish (http://tinyurl.com/5w7bn)
It will be available I think in one week, and the price will be very fair.

After all these years, I'm still using Yaps! Serves my purposes well.

I use YAPS..... can't beat the price!

I'm a former YAPS user who switched to SplashID.
I find that I use the desktop app a lot when surfing to look up those pesky IDs and PWs. The sorting and grouping, the use of icons, the security features and the desktop sold me over. The extra cost of SplashID over the YAPS with desktop was well worth it for me.

The extra cost of SplashID over the YAPS with desktop was well worth it for me.
The additional cost is $20.05. While Yaps! is free, the viewer is $9. SplashID is $29.95.
I have used Yap! and Yaps! Viewer for a number of years and have been quite satisfied. I also use HanDBase Professional which has password protection and ecryption capabilites (use this because I have work-related databases that I need to protect).
Finally, realizing that I may have "confidential" information (i.e., personal journals) that I do not want others to get hold of, I use a third party system security software which then adds yet another layer of protection for my password programs/databases. Some of these appear to be so powerful that they would set fire to my Clie if I make a mistake. So I use Onlyme! (www.tranzoa.com) which works well for me. It will not destroy the data, just keep it out of the perview of others.

When I bought SplashID it was less than $20 [it was quite a while ago] so the cost difference wasn't so much. $30 is quite a steep price - right on the edge of what I'd be willing to pay if I had to make my decision today.

I use 3nity. Works great for me. 11.95$ at PlamGear.
As a Swordfish (http://tinyurl.com/5w7bn) author I am not planing to release PC Desktop. Is this a problem for user? I saw that most of security apps has PC Desktop and cost a lot (except YAPS). I want to make only PDA version but half priced. What you think about it ?

I am still using Strip. It still works very well and it's still free!

YAPS may be the oldest app on my current Palm. Never needed a reason to even look for an upgrade. And that is the best review I could ever give a piece of software.

I use the desktop version as much if not more than the PalmOS version. It allows to be able to cut/paste the passwords et. al. into the programs that I have on my PC/notebook that I need to.

I'm currently using Keyring (http://gnukeyring.sourceforge.net), but YAPS compares pretty well! I might switch, if I can be assed to convert all the passwords...! :)

The price sounds good, but if you want to really be competitive, please consider a desktop for the PC.
Like Boomer I use the desktop often while surfing; it really comes in handy.
Good luck with Swordfish!

Another vote for SplashID. Another good thing about SplashID is they do mention in their policy page that you can share your copy across all your devices. I remember before, the license was per household. I think they changed it to per user across the user's different devices. :)
To add, in their desktop version, you can actually highlight all the records, do a copy, and paste it to another device id. I thought that was a nice touch.
I have been using Splash ID since the beginning of 2002 and it does what I need. I definitely would say I use the desktop portion exponentially more than the PDA portion.

There are lots of palm only freeware apps. Without a desktop part I dot see many people trying it.

Yeah, coming from a user of 3nity and SplashID, a desktop version is a must. The 3nity desktop won't allow you to create, edit, or delete entries. That is a definite program lack in my opinion. SplashID is well worth the money as far as I'm concerned.

Right... SplashID Desktop has a nice feature where you can easily copy any field by clicking on an icon. This is great when you're on a web page and need to enter a long password or serial #. Just copy and paste.
As for the price difference, I found the SplashWallet Suite to be a very good investment. I use SplashID and SplashShopper literally every day. Depending on your needs, it may be worthwhile to spend the extra money and buy the whole suite (especially if you can find a coupon for your purchase and get it at a discount).
However, it's great to know that there is freeware available for those who don't need all the features. What a wonderful world! :)

I have used Top Secret and have been happy with it.

I'm also interested in your passwords  Do you prefer alphanumeric (words, etc) or numeric passwords? I think big numerical kaypad is good, becouse you can easy enter you pasword by finger. Should Swordfish have a alphanumeric password field?

I use Roboform for my PC and they have now come out with a Palm version for $9.99...
It syncs all of my website passwords and safenotes to my TH55 every time I sync. I'm very happy with it!

As a Swordfish author I am not planing to release PC Desktop.
That would make the product unusable for me. I use the desktop piece almost as much, if not more sometimes than the Palm piece. I was once robbed, lost my wallet and Palm both. If not for my desktop software, I would not of had all my contact information for my credit card companies and numbers to give them to get them canceled. Thanks to the Desktop component, I had all cards deactivated in under an hour before even one charge could be made to any of them.
I have used Yaps, Secret and even checked out TopSecret. SplashID ALL THE WAY HERE! :) SplashID rocks.
If they can get it to auto login to some websites for me, I'll give them my first born. $30 is steep, but worth it for me.

I bought Passwords Plus from Dataviz quite a while back and liked the fact that it sync'd with a desktop application. Then I discovered Roboform thanks to wellsjs and have never looked back. And as was mentioned a few posts back, there is both a PC version and a Palm OS one.
While copying and pasting passwords and urls into my browser was a lot easier than typing them in which Passwords Plus did well - Roboform allows you to select from a list whatever site you want to log into and does it all automatically. Naturally it's password protected. Now if it would only work with Netfront.......
Swordfish is available. You can take a look here (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productId=146275)
I've been a user of SplashID for at least three years. True, it was cheaper then, but it's still adding new features. You've always been able to customize the names of the fields in each type of entry, but now you can do it for every individual record.
I also love that it now lets you use DB5/Agendus icons in addition to the built-in ones. Mac support is a big plus as well, although I rarely refer to the desktop app.

I'd have to add my voice for SplashID... Used it for years now...

That is why I use Yaps (Palm version, $0) and Yaps Viewer (desktop version, $9) for years.
