I just called Circuit City in Mountain View and no luck... Anybody in the Bay Area have any luck finding the PEG-TG50?

No luck at the Best Buy in San Carlos - they claimed to not even have it in their computer yet.

I was at the Sony store yesterday at the Metreon -- no TG-50. I ordered mine from Sony and it will arrive tomorrow.

They have 263 in the warehouse in Pleasanton. The guy said the San Jose location should be getting some in on their Tuesday shipment.

Was that the Circuit City in San Jose that should have them today?

I called Fry's in Palo Alto and Sunnyvale and they "report" that it is not in stock yet.

Well, I went over the CompUSA in San Bruno and the Circuit City in Daly City last night and neither had the TG50. The PDA CSR at CompUSA claimed that he spoke with his manager and they "might not even carry" the TG50. Funny considering they have EVERY other Clie model out there.

On a side note, I did get to use the NX-70 demo unit they had at CompUSA...didn't have any problems using the keyboard, so depending on how the TG50 keyboard is, I may go for the NX (but the larger size is a big negative for me).

Well, I called the Daly City Circuit City this afternoon and they said they don't know when or if they'll be coming in. Of course, it didn't really sound like the guy knew what he was talking about. Boy, don't you just love the people that work at these electronics stores?

Also, I just checked Best Buy's website and the TG50 is listed and in stock...so I'm thinking they should be in the stores by this weekend (?).

There at the CC in Mountain View. Looked at one today. In my opion, Sony needs to fix that screen before I spend $400. I thought people where over reacting a bit. But it looks like they weren't. I'll just hold on to my T665c for a bit longer. Everything else about the TG-50 is nice.

What about the screen don't you like? Size, wavy lines?

The size doesn't bother me. It's the wavy lines that do. From the one I was looking at it looks like the light behind the screen is to bright at the bottom. It causes the light to be forced in to a cone shape effect that goes 1/4 inch up the screen. Since that is to bright, in between the cones are the dark areas. Even when I switched to another program that had a dark background, the waves where still quite noticeable, but not as bad with the white background. I still believe this is a better value than the TT. But for $400 I expect the screen to be perfect. Sony could have just used the TFT screen from the T665c. Why they didn't is a mystery. Their LCD screens have had this problem before.

Just bought one last night at the Best Buy in Fairfield. Looks great so far.

Why not buy one mail order? The TG-50's have been on sale here in Japan for a while, but I don't want the Japanese OS--everyone I ask says that they will not make any claims that English software will work, or that it will sync with my U.S.-bought computers. So I just ordered from Mac/PC-Connection, and it'll be at my door early next week.

But even if you live in the U.S., why not buy it online? If you purchase from a mail order place outside of your state, you don't pay any sales tax, and it usually gets to your front door by the next day.

We don't buy online because we want to try the PDA out first, and return policies at mail-order places are usually very restrictive and costly.
