I know this has been posted before, but I can't seem to find the topics.

What I need to know is exactly how to install high density Icons for use on Datebk 5, that its just a straight answer!!!

I have datebk 5 and will download some high density icons from one of the palm sites (any suggestions on the best icons?)

Then from there I need EXACT instructions on how to install / set them up for use in DATEBK 5

YOUR HELP IS GREATLY NEEDED

THANKS

M~kay . . .

First, I'm going to assume you have an NX OS 5 machine since you're posting in this forum.   If you load hi-res icons, they automatically show up on OS5 machines.

Go to PalmGear and download M3 icons sampler (just search for M3).  They're hi-res and GORGEOUS (IMHO). (You get about a bazillion if you register, but the demo/sampler will do for now)  Move your current icon file to your memory stick so it doesn't get replaced, just incase you decide you want it back later.   Install the M3 icon file like you would any other file.

Datebk 5 should automagically use this file if no other icon files are available.

I'm surprised something like that isn't covered in the DateBk5 documentation (especially in preview 7 or 8 where the HiRes stuff is supported).

Get a demo of Icon Manager -- it does HiRes stuff, and comes with a small set of icons. DateBk5 preview 8 (now out) comes with some HiRes icons that are ok. M3 icons, IMO, are too cartoon-ish... all yellow/orange with black outlining... I like cleaner icons.

Rule #1: RTFM
Rule #2: If RTFM doesn't answer the question, ask the developer (maybe he'll put it in his manual for others to see)
Rule #3: If RTFM and contacting the developer doesn't work, then just keeping trying anything and everything and hope like crazy you don't get a hard reset. :)

(It is my understanding that DateBk5 looks for "Icons-DateBk5")

My understanding is these hi-res icons don't work on Datebook5. You need the beta versions...either 7 or 8. You can find this on the pimlico website...on right hand site. Read the small print!

For Datebook5, you need to install Icon Manager and set it to your default set.

Oooh!  Didn't think of that.  I'm in the yahoo group and upgrade away without giving it a lot of thought . . . ;)  It's up to p8 now.

there is somehow a black and white icon set somewhere that i think it is conflicting with. Anyone know where it could be? it's a very crude set.

The B&W set is defined by a memo that is titled DATEBK3. You have to rename it or delete it before it will pick up the Color Icon sets.
