Has anyone tried palmOS coblat? I ran the version 6.1 simulator yesterday and I must say, that I really like what I see:
-improved look of the UI
-nice connection managment in the menu bar
-OS based landscape-portrait mode
-VGA (although I think 320x480 is enough for a PDA; but maybe Zodiac 3??)
-floating Graffiti area that disapears after a set time (or not at all if you like)
-OS based multi media player

Only thing that buggs me is the bad performance on my 866MHz computer. I wonder if it is a problem of the simulator or of the OS? If the latter is the case, I know why we have no OS6 devices yet: the processors are too slow:-)

I must admit, that I start to long for the first palmOS6 devices. I hope sony gets back into buissiness with palmOS6 smart phones. Would be great to see what they make of it.

I'm not sure you can compare simulator (emulator) performance to how it would truely perform on an actual device. It all depends on how well they optimize the code. And maybe even a number of other factors. My dad has a pc with ~800+ P3 i think and running win98 and some programs just run plain slow on it even though they are above min requirements compared to running on a newer pc. It might be something like that. Perhaps the simulator is meant to be used on a newer hardware set.
