TG50 - what is the plug adapter attachment for?

I love my new TG-50, but what is the plug adapter attachment for? i read the manual and all it tells you is how to attach it to the plug adapter. it doesn't say why you would want to attach it in the first place! can any enlightened being please tell me what this part is for? Thanks.

Ah, that is used to snap onto the adapter so the cord isn't accidentally ripped out of the plug.
