My question is it worth it?

On ebay they seem to go for about 200 dollars more than a US model.
Is bluetooth all that great?

I paid $299 - $20 coupon ($20 off minimum purchase of $150) - $100 MIR = $229 before tax. Office Depot clearance, very limited availability, call a store and ask for them to search your area's stores.

I paid $465 for a used TH55/E from a web seller, (Brighthand.com.) When I received the PDA the screen was white; there was no image on it at all. The seller was very honest about it and refunded my money. But it got me thinking about the wisdom of spending THAT much money on a used PDA. For that much money I could buy a new T3, a new T5, or a new Dell x50v...all of which would come with a warranty and manufacturer support.

It is unfortunate that the TH55/E is still one of only two Palm powered devices with built-in WI-Fi and bluetooth, (the UX50 being the other.) There are a few of us out there that really need BOTH wireless technologies. If there were a current Palm device that had all of the features of the TH55/E, I would have bought it in a second. Since there wasn't... I ended up getting a Dell x50v.

Sorry, Palm. I just couldn't wait

If you can't find any TH55 and willing to switch to PPC. Try looking into this one:

http://www.brighthand.com/article/Pocket_Loox_700_Series_Official?site=PPC

Good luck :D :D :D

Isn't the BT-MS difficult to come by? Will it work reliably with a NX?

There are finally Wifi card drivers available for the Zodiac.

A TH55/E is worth $800+ here in japan.

Actually, I've always thought that the NX series was kind of neat; unfortunately, I usually carry my PDA's in my shirt pocket, so the large size of the NX Clie's has caused me to look elsewhere.

And speaking of wireless cards, I have to say that they never really worked that well for me. I've had Wi-Fi cards for my TG50 and for my Tungsten T3, but in both cases, you had to remove the memory card to use it. I think that a Wi-Fi card is a somewhat acceptable solution if there are two different card slots, ie. the CF/SD arrangement that some PPC's have, or the dual SD slots on the Zodiac's. But after using a device with built-in Wi-Fi and bluetooth, I don't think I'll ever go back. I use the wireless functions too frequently to want to bother inserting and removing cards all of the time. YMMV.

Ordered from Expansys in March before it was released.
US$544.95 including shipping.

Well worth it, especially considering buying a US model at Circuit City was only about $50 cheaper after sales tax. Now of course the price has gone up, but I still think it's worth it if you frequently have access to both kinds of wireless. Switching to PPC is not a very economical option because if you own hundreds of dollars in Palm software, replacing what you already have will be more expensive than just buying a TH/E.

It depends on your usage. Like kp*, I bought my TH-55/E1 from Expansys. I also bought one of the first Fujitsu-Siemens Loox 720's to be imported into the US, which has both BT and WiFi.

I regularly use BT with my Sony Ericsson T610 via GPRS to download email and connect to the internet when I'm out of range of a wireless access point (which is most of the time). I wouldn't buy a device without BT and WiFi ... but your mileage may vary.

It was especially sweet one day when our network at work was down, and I was the only one able to get out ... from my PDAs. BT rocks.

Purchased off ebay $355 included the elusive UC55 cradle and description said included both canvas and leather cases. Canvas was Sony's zip pouch and the leather was a vaja. All original documentation, boxes, and all the European adapters and the condition of the unit was immaculate. Unbelievable! ... and please don't hate me!

Was it worth it? What do you think!?

I pay $10/month for T-Mobile unlimited tzones. The major limitation is I can't access secure sites such as eBay and bank accounts. Now I wish my PDAs had Bluetooth in addition to Wifi. If I ever obtain another PDA it will definitely have Bluetooth and Wifi.
