NX60 - won't turn off after an alarm

My NX60 has this strange problem. Often when an alarm goes off in the databook the PDA doesn't shut off after the usual amount of time. Since I often leave the NX60 clipped to my waist or on my desk, it has remained on for several hours without my noticing it. Of course what happens then is the battery dies completely.

I recently replaced the battery in the PDA before I realised this was the problem so the machine has been initialised (cold boot) and I restored a backup taken from BackupBuddy.

Anybody experienced this problem? Any ideas to address it
