Audiovox8600 and Gomadic Cable connection to Clie

I'm usually pretty tech savvy BUT I'm not quite sure on how to do this...

I bought the wireless internet cable from Gomadic and have my Audiovox CDM 8600 hooked up to my Sony Clie NX70V but I have two BIG questions...

1) How do I use my phone to act as a modem? I have an Earthlink account with a username and password and a local access number as well.

2) How do I get my Clie to recognize the phone? What settings should i put under my Network preferences?

3) Do I need something else from Verizon (the service under which I am) itself for my phone to act as a modem? I know they have something called Express Network - would this be their equivalent to being able to connect online?

there are detailed instructions for the settings on the gomadic support page. also, since you have verizon, you don't need to use your earthlink account (since that is not high speed). you can use verizon's free QNC (14.4) connection (you only use your air time). unless of course you want to pay for verizon's high speed connection.

done..HOWEVER now i'm getting authentication error messages....i altered the scripts just like gomadic indicated.....phone speed/clie network speed both on 19.2....what the heck is going on?....(tried data calling mode only also on the phone)
