The old IC made the MQV file and also the MAI index file... but now I noticed IC 1.5 makes these 2 files, AND an additional file *.THM
Anyone know what the heck this is for, and why it's necessary?
Thank you! :)

The *THM replaces the MAI file.
More convenient I think instead of the MAI file being in another directory.
Just install the new Movie PLayer update and your CLIE will have no problem.

If the THM file is supposed to replace the MAI file then why is it making all THREE files, including the MAI in the MoviePlayer directory?
And what Movie Player update are you referring to?
Please note that my Clie is not having any "problem" playing the MQV's made by IC 1.5 but I just found this weird. Now when I go to copy JUST the MQV to my Clie through MS Import, it does give me a message (not an error though really) saying I am losing "document info" by copying this file alone. What the hell is this? LOL I'm sorry but I just don't get it.

Thats odd, IC 1.5 is not also making the MAI files for me.

My IC1.5 is only making the .MQV and .THM files.
I think the .thm file is the "thumbnail" file and is necessary if you want to "preview" the file.
When I used 1.5 on my C drive and then exported both files to my CF card, I could play the video fine but not see the thumbnail.
However when I convert it directly to my CF card, then i see the thumbnail image.

The MQV's thumnail file should be *.MAI (in /PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer, no matter you export to which drive, IC will put .MAI file to that folder in the drive).
I think .THM file is also thumbnail but for MP4 only (using VZ90's MediaLauncher).
OH! I didnt bother to look into that folder. I will later today. In any case, I know those files are very VERY small as to be almost inconsequential in terms of memory space. So long as I see the thumbnail after conversion, i'm happy.

Beside using thumbnails generated by IC, you can create (or choose) the thumbnail you want (for MQV only).
When playing a movie, pause the playback at the screen you like, then go to menu, go to 2nd one (I'm not sure the word in English as I'm using Japanese CLIE), there should have renew or refresh. Then the thumbnail of that video will be replaced.
