wow, thanks for sharing.
It's great! I hated the floating cirles (ovals rather) - that appeared in preview 7, but this is fixed - great!!
thanks you - my fave app just got a notch better yet again!
It'a a tad slower on my NR though...
And it finally supports the icons natively!!!

The native support for high density icons on OS 4 devices looks great. The setting for tiny icons in the month view sticks now as well. It's hard to believe the icons would be identifiable at that size, but they are. For an eye treat on a hi res device, turn the underlines off in the day view and load the high density icons. Very sharp!
How do you turn the underlines off? I'm probably missing something very simple, sorry.

Hi Tanker,
I can't get any high density icon in the monthly view even I've checked "Use small version of Icons" in the preference.
Any clue?? I'm using a T615 and the icon set is still called ICONS-DATEBK5 in Icon Manager.
Cheers

but the readme does say that "Remember that DateBk5 will only use the collection called icons-DATEBK5, if you have 2 or more icon collections loaded, so delete the other icon collections, or rename the one you want to use as icons-DATEBK5." So, perhaps you need to rename the file with the hi res icons in order to use them.
Ok, nevermind. I think that was wrong.
Sorry!

I guess we can have as many sets of icons as we like in the IconManager. There will be a Star next to your default icon set and default set will be in BOLD face as well. My icon set is indeed called Icons-DATEBK5.
May be my question is not clear enough. I CAN see all high density icons in the Day View. But they don't show up in the List View and Monthly View though.

There's a post on the Yahoo group about this.
While OS5 will create a lo-res version on the fly (that's really what those small ones are. 1/2 the size so they have 1/2 the pixels, so it uses the lo-res versions.), OS4 will not. You'll have to create them yourself.
Fastest way to do it?
Go into IconManager. Choose "Low" from the menu that probably says "Best" or "High". Anything with an orange X doesn't have a lo-res version. Double click on each icon and choose to let it convert the hi-res version to lo-res.
Personally, I then typically went back to my old lo-res collection and copied a corresponding lo-res design (in the edit screen) and then opened the lo-res version of the new one and pasted. I found that what makes most hi-res icons great is their complexity. They don't often size down well. I prefer those designed for lo-res.
My 2 cents. Go ahead and convert your icons and all will be well.

Thanks, never thought to even look there. In fact I didn't even know there was a menu in the menu.

Do you keep your icon databases on the MS (except the one the program uses)?

aym is correct, you must have low density icons available for display. You can check by tap and holding on an icon in IconManager 1.1. It will pop up a list of the icons in that entry. If there isn't one for "Color", just tap on the Color line in the pop up. It will pop up another dialog offering to convert the icon. Tap Convert or Edit, and it will convert it and add it to the entry. Selecting Edit will display it in edit mode for cleanup. You can do that for any combination of density and color.

If this is in response to my question, the answer is they are all in RAM. Thanks:)

No stinkin' blinkin' here.
I take it that there is not yet Hires+ font support for the various displays, specifically the Day display? If there is, would someone please point me in the right direction! :p

Hires+ support has been available. The latest release version, Datebk5 5.0b, has it.
i realize it has hires+ support but i am more specifically talking about the font support. seems that you're stuck with the same old font in hires+ mode rather than being able to select one of the extra font sizes.

Go to Day view, then Menu-View Display options, and change the font option. You can have small or tiny fonts as well.

Day view is my startup. It looks like a photoskin issue as I just went back to my default VG and now it does not happen.

i also clicked "preferences" and see not font size preferences either. :'(

Which device do you have? I know he has DB5 set up so that some preferences settings only display on devices that can use it, so maybe it's incorrectly thinking that your version isn't high-res.

Only OS5 devices support small / tiny fonts in the day view.

couple of questions about p8:
1)I have my M3 icon collection set as the default icon set. there is about 970 or so hires icons in this file. when I try to use the icon in datebk5 i can only select from the first 200 or so icons. In Agendus I don't have a problem with this, it lets me select any of the 970 icons. Its there some kind of limit to the number of icons in a set that datebk5 can choose from?
2)I just had a brain fart and can't forget what my other question was. oh well.

Datebk5 only allows the use of 255 icons from the set... i set up my favorites from a few different icon sets to create a custom one that suits my needs...
hope that helps

Hopefully Dbk5 will do something about this soon:) About the first issue, not about the brain fart, sorry:p

The font of my Todos in Daily view are large. Can someone point me in the right direction to fix this?
They're not marked to be large. Appointment font are a normal size.

What OS version are you using? I believe that the small fonts for the day view are only available for OS5 units? Right? Anyone?...Anyone?...Anyone?

I think you're right LanMan, small fonts shows up on os5 units.

The issue with small fonts in day view is due to the way Palm OS 4.x handles editable text fields. OS 5 removed that limitation.

On the FAQ's for the newest version, they mention a "workaround" for PalmOS 4 for having small fonts in the day view, using FontHack... I've just been playing around with this, but I get a lot of garbage below each line of text...
Has anyone had any success with this?

Read the directions and follow them exactly for Lubak's fonts. The garbage is caused by mixing font sets on your device.
