Larry Becker of Brighthand gives us his impressions of the Treo 650. "Everything that made the Treo 600 so hot is even better." [details (http://www.1src.com/?m=show&id=670)]

It's kind of interesting to hear conflicting opinions on the Treo. The only things I've read about the 650 (with the exception of this article) has been negative - mainly because it's all focused on Palm's new memory structure. Nice to see someone review the whole hardware package instead of focusing on just the memory aspect. I still won't buy one because I think the whole non-volatile memory structure is junk, and I personally don't want a smartphone, but an interesting read nonetheless.

I'm sure they (P1) will fix the minor glichtes. Well no other smarthphone comes even close. although I admit it's not perfect. Maybe the upcoming moto MPx300, but the keyboard layout is not as nice and it's ppc.
I can't wait for a gsm model on either t-mobile or cingular.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm surprised to see palmOne didn't realize the memory issue of the new system NVFS. Especially when the issue actually impact Treo 600 users who are upgrading to a Treo 650. Treo 600 users who have almost full memory simply will fail to upgrade to Treo 650 (due to not enough memory), unless they move some of their applications to the SD card! I can hardly believe palmOne has not done a test case on this one.

I haven't owned a GSM phone, although I get how the SIM cards work. Does anyone know if you buy a GSM model phone (like the Treo 650) from Cingular, can you also buy another phone (e.g. a slim Motorola Razr) and swap the card back and forth, depending on which handset you want to carry?
