Memory stick Duo -> CF adapter appearance

The SONY marketing the memory stick Duo the compact flash (CF) sells the adapter " MSAC-MCF1 " which it tries to be able to utilize in the slot on April 10th. 5700 Yen.

If the memory stick Duo is inserted, the adapter which reaches the point where you can use for data retention with such as digital camera and the PDA which equip the CF Type I/II slot. It does not correspond to the magic gate. The corresponding type have assumed after the April, consecutively it releases with the same company sight.

It seems to be reasonable to believe that CF storage cards should work if this Memory Stick to CF adapter works on the Clie, right?

Perhaps Sony will be releasing a CF driver in this fashion!!!

What do you pple think?

*Trying not to be excited*

Thanks for the info!

They way I see it ANY way I get to use that CF slot, is OK by me!

I mean it is great that CF's are cheaper. However, for me, it is much more important that I can have both slots utilized. I would not have to swap cards as often. Something I wanted from day one. A concept SONY never seemed to see, until perhaps now.

The product in question is an adapter for a DUO memory stick that sticks in a Compact Flash slot.

NOTE: the memory stick DUO is the smaller version of the memory stick - and will not work in the CLIE series (without an adapter to make it the same size as a regular stick).

It converts the serial protocol of the memory stick to the parallel ATA protocol of CF storage.

------
There are already existing products that do the same thing for normal memory sticks.

http://www.memoryx.net/ts0mms2cf.html

For $21, you put your memory stick in one end, and you can use that in devices that take CF cards (eg: Pocket PC PDAs, cameras, etc)

The memory stick sticks out the end.

-------

So if you buy a lot of memory sticks, you can use them in other things.

This is NOT a solution to the missing "Compact Flash" slot driver for storage -- for NX/NZ owners

No, I would not make that conclusion.

There are already DUO -> normal memory stick adapters, so there is already a solution for the CLIE (for DUO sticks)

As pointed out above, the adapter goes in the opposite direction of what you would need to use CF cards.

Sony sees the concept, and that's as far as it goes:(!

I guess I am misled by the statement that one can use this in a clie as mentioned in the SPUG thread? Oh well.. I was hopeful for a while...
