You get what you pay for...... That thing is buggy as hell on my NX70V. Good thing I backed up before I installed it, and installed the utility into my ghetto PC that I don't care about.

And I hate the way it lays a craplet into the system tray, and that's the only way to access the program. WTF?

And this thing in no way should be confused with a proper image viewing app. First you have to copy an image to the clipboard on the PC and then have to hotsync it to the Palm? And what's with the 256 color limit? Just useless. And that's if it works. It never did on my NX70V.

This thing is not worth downloading and installing. I took one for the team.

ZLauncher views jpegs natively. Before that, I used Crs-ImageView 0.8, which is free. McJPEG also works and is free, but it only works from inside McFile which isn't free.

Let's blame OS5 then.

But as for the other stuff, what's up with that? 256 colors? This isn't 1999.

Not defending the product, since I haven't tried it, but am defending usnig 256 colors. I use Handstory and even though it supports HiColor, I was delighted when they included an option to use 256 color instead. In most images the difference is undetectable to the naked eye, but a 256 color image file is as little as one fifth the size of the same image in HiColor. With limits of 16mb of RAM and 128mb on external storage, file size is significantly more important to me than the minor difference in image quality on my Clie screen.

In most images the difference is undetectable to the naked eye? Maybe if you are taking a glance at the image. With photos, it certainly is detectable with the naked eye. Very much so.

If you are talking about printing the photos, you are correct, the difference would be obvious, but on the Clie screen, I'm certain most people would never be able to tell the difference. When I converted my images from Hi Color to 256 color, I kept both copies on my Clie, just to see if it mattered, and switching back and forth looking for differences and knowing which was which, I could not see any difference. By deleting the Hi Color images, I can store 3-4 times as many images in the same space. To me, the space saving is worth any slight loss in image quality. To you, it may not be.

I do agree it is nice having the Hi-Color option, however.

That's funny cause I could plainly see the difference in the same photo displayed between N710 and N760.

If you remember back to then, N710 shipped with OS3.5 (which only allowed 4096 colors to be displayed) and N760 shipped with OS4 (which supported the full 65000+ colors), but both units had the identical screen. So it's no question to me that one would see the difference between 256 colors and 65000+ colors!!

Maybe in that program you use, "hi color" is only like 4096 colors or something. Or you are only taking a rudimentary glance at the photos instaed of looking closely at the details.

256 is VERY noticeable on pictures of a person, you can see lines of banding, or if it's dithered, you can see lots of little dots inside. 4096 colors (12-bit) can look pretty good, and it's somewat difficult to differentiate it from 65000 (esp. w/ pim apps).

You're welcome. AI kicks even more butt on OS5, when you upgrade to an OS5 Palm device eventually.

And these guys are so on the ball. They upgrade and improve it constantly (free). The best $20 I spent on my Clie.
