I have not been able to send out emails using the VersaMail program that came with my Tungsten T|C. I am able to receive emails but every time I try to send out an email, I get SMTP timeout or that server does not exist. I have 3 different accounts with different servers and get those errors with my SMTP.

Any clues to what it could be? Can it be the wireless connection? Access Point?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I downloaded the snapper mail demo and setup my accounts there and they are working fine!

So this leads me to beleive that it might be a setting in VersaMail. But dont know what that is.

Really appreciate anyone's help.

I got the following reply from the PalmOne help forum and still not able to get it to work:

Your issue here is probably the esmtp settings in Versamail. Much depends upon how you are connecting to the Internet via WiFi. The SnapperMail client may be automatically detecting some of the required settings or cycling thru the options until it finds one that works. This would explain the discrepancy.

If you were in your home for example using Comcast, you would probaby have difficulties sending email except from your Comcast email account as they reputedly restrict SMTP relay to their own domain only.

The settings to be concerned with in SMTP are:
Use authentication (ESMTP) (check box)
SMTP port number (usually this is TCP port 25)
Sometimes the mail server requires SSL over SMTP
If you turn on ESMTP - you will also need a username and password for the SMTP server.

Most connections via WiFi will be on a network that you may not control. Hence a command by your email client to send mail via a given SMTP server will be greeted with suspicion by the SMTP server until you provide your bona fides. Ask your ISP what SMTP rules they observe for each of your mail accounts.
