I have a lot of nice movies of my daughter and wife that I have recorded on my NZ. I want to save them on my PC. I can save them, but not as a MPEG. Quicktime 6 won't convert movies recorded on the NZ. If anyone has any suggestions please help.

Simpy copy the movies to your PC, rename them so that they have ".MOV" extensions, and play. QuickTime 6 should handle them with no problems. This works for me...

Quicktime 6 doesn't have a problem with playing them, only a problem with converting movies to MPEG.

I'm a little confused: the movies are already MPEG-- specifically, MPEG-4-- on the Clie. They remain MPEG-4 when you copy them to your PC...

Is there a way to take a movie(any) and put on memory stick?

I remember on some forum elsewhere a member said he had a full lenght movie on MS.(It took two to hold the entire movie)

I tried to rename a movie from the camera to MPG but got a error playing it from MS movie player. However QTVR plays it fine as a .MOV

I never had a problem with playing NZ recorded movies on my PC. When I would try to save them so that I could download them to my Clie later, Image Converter kept saying,"file not supported!" I figured it out, I just save them as Quicktime movies and now Image Converter can read them. Thanks for your time.

One shouldn't have to 'rename' the movies when moving them from your MS to your PC (I can't answer about Mac 'puters). Once you move them to your PC, you do have the ability to open them up directly with Quicktime 6. It may not have a direct file-association with it.... but It will open up just fine (I've done it several times). :)

Weird, I have QT 6.0 and it still won't play the .MAI files from the NZ?!

Look in your Mq_root directory. The actual movies are there as .mqv files. Your looking at the Sony movieplayer files...

To quickly associate a file (MQV) files on your Windows PC with QuickTime, try this:

RIght click on the file and select OPEN WITH
(this might be only available on Windows 2000 or better)

when you click on OPEN WITH a window will come up showing you a list of different applications. If you have QuickTime installed, scroll down until you see it.

Click on it and put a checkmark beside ALWAYS USE THIS PROGRAM TO OPEN THSE FILES.

You should see the icon on those files change to a quicktime icon.
Now you should be able to just double click on these files (even straight from a memory stick) and run them in QuickTime.

Later,
dks
