View Full Version : T665 - To case or not to case!

Since I bought my T665 I have been fighting the urge to buy a case for it. I have a generic Targus case that I used to carry my Visor Prism in and the T665 (with the flip cover on) fits nicely in it. But it has no MS storage pockets. :( But the truth of the matter is I really like carrying my T665 in my pocket with just the flip cover, which protects the screen from my comb or whatever else is in the pocket.

With all the "case hype" here in the forums, am I the only one who likes and uses the T665 just the way it came? I can even drop it in my shirt pocket for short spells when I know I'll need it again shortly. I just can't convince myself that I would be happier with a case that would add just enough bulk that I wouldn't want to carry it in my pocket, and I'm not real keen on "the hip thing." The pants and occasionally shirt pocket are one of the strong points of the T665 form factor, and I'm just thinking a case, any case would ruin it. Your thoughts?

I just use the black screen cover that came with it. Same thing as when I had my m505. If it's not in my hands, then it's in my left pocket, or my shirt or jacket pocket if I am playing mp3's with headphones on.

It all depends though, if you keep it in your briefcase or whatever else.

I carry my T665 in my left pocket without a case or even the flip cover. It is the only thing I carry in my left pocket and I always ensure that the screen face my leg. I also did this with my last two PDA's (2.5 years) and I've never had a problem.

I do use screen protectors though so that my screen always looks new. Note however that screen protectors do not protect from cracks, they only protect from scratches.

I did try the InnoPocket case. The T665 looked GREAT in it but the reason I didn't stick with it was because it no longer fit in the cradle.

I hope I was of help.

I have a cheap Belkins slipper case that I bought from BestBuy. Doesnt add to much bulk but it also doesnt fit in the cradle. I believe there is a brand of leather slipper that does fit in the cradle but it slips my mind.

Anywho, the above combination works for me mostly because I use a charging cable and an automated backup program so I really have no need to use the cradle - maybe once a week and it comes out pretty easy.

I have the Rhino Skin metal case and am very happy. I have dropped the device three times, all because of the headphones and it hasn't broke yet. The metal is a little scratched, but I am trying harder to not drop.

Later.

I find it really efficient to carry my 665 in my shirt pocket caseless. I even went without the flip cover for a while, but nervousness made me put the flip cover back on. My only problem with caseles is that the 665 is metal, and it slides soooo easily in the pocket. I had mine knocked out of my pocket and it fell and cracked the lcd in one corner. The flip cover didn't help in my crash (I think it landed on a corner and the strain cracked the lcd). I have heard that some people are putting clips on the backs of their pda's and clipping them in their pockets. I'm gonna try that as soon as my 665 gets back to me from the sony repair center. A shirt with a small built in magnetic anchor would be nice! Brian

I went out and bought the Rhino Metal case, but took it back 'cause I don't want to be bothered with taking out my 665 everytime I want/need to charge (which of course is often). Until I can find an option for having a case and being able to put it in the cradle, I'm having to put up w/just having it in my pocket as is.

If there are any products that en1 knows about that have the option of sitting in the cradle while having the case on, please post... I'd be VERY interested.

Take a look at http://www.bellagiodesigns.com/ .   I bought a Bellagio case for my NR and leave it in the case most of the time now, even in the cradle.  It's becoming my favorite, over the Vaja.

I have a Bellagio case too, and although its not as slim as I want it to be, it definetely is the best case I could find.
You may want to look at this case http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/taycho-review.html but I'm not sure if theyre still making the case, since their website is not there anymore.

i bought i sena(button closure) case for my t665c... i like it alot.. it's small, but i still like the look of the clie. most cases cover the entire pda in leather... except for the screen... i think i'm going to use the flip cover except when i go on trips...

i have that targus case too.. it's really big though... if u use a case.. i would suggest the sena... it's the smallest i've seen.. and i looked at everyone i could get my hands on...

p.s... a good MS holder is a business card holder

I am using Innopocket metal case and its great but of course u have to remove it to hot sync. But it adds weight to it and instead of scratching the Clie, the metal case takes the beating instead and to be honest it doesnt look nice when theres scratch marks.

I am looking something leather, looks like a filofax cover so it looks nice and elgant at the same time provides protection for my Clie. Appreciate your help.

I prefer to carry it bare for daily use. Even the flip cover adds too much weight. Try it for a day without anything.

To me, putting a slim, sleek PDA in a bulky leather case is like putting one of those hideous vinyl "Bras" on a nice looking sports car.

Although, the one modification I did to my T665C was to put one of those write-rights on the back of the unit. That's right, the back! It allows me to set the unit on a table without the fear of those "micro" scratches that appear over time.

Just cut out holes for the reset and cradle holes.

Another thought, is the sony case that they have at best buy. It is a double sided leather flip case. I use that and it fits in my pocket no problem. There is also a little tab that holds the front flap in place so it doesn't slide off of the screen and buttons.
Just another alternative.

I appreciate all the feedback and great innovative ideas. Meanwhile, I am toting my T665 in my pants pocket, with the flip cover that came with it and like that just fine. I need to get used to transfering my comb to the other pocket so as not to scratch "my precious" (Lord Of The Rings :D ) up!

I alternate between a few options, and pretty much always carry it in a pants or shirt pocket as well:

'Naked' with flip cover when I want to go ultralight and don't feel I need my memory sticks, etc. Sometimes, I'll carry along my earbud pouch which is big enough to hold my MS as well.

In the aluminum Innopocket case when i feel I need a bit more crush-proofedness, or just want a different look. Here too I can carry spare MS in the earbud pouch.

In a leather flip-case (Vaja in my case). I like the look and the ability to carry a couple MS in the case.

My IDEAL case would be a fitted aluminum flip-lid with external pockets for 2 MS and a credit card. I envision a Neoprene-like material stretched over the lid with 2MS and a bigger card slot built-in. The inside of the lid would be a perfect place for the Grafitti sticker, return information, a family photo, etc. Perhaps a clear multi-use pocket?

Since women's business casual clothing does not normally feature shirt pockets, I went looking for a classy looking case that was also protective. I ended up with a red leather Covertec case with pockets for 2 MS and 3 slots for an ID, etc. It has a magnetic snap closure and has worked very well for a clumsy person like myself. I use cables instead of the cradle to hotsync, so I am able to hotsync with my Clie in the case. It securely holds the clie without any horrid velcro.

The only problem with that is if you drop something and are careless and bend over to pick it up then it will most lilely fall out. You are taking a big risk there. I have more protection in my left pocket anyway. Or what if the airbag in your car goes off in an accident and crushed your clie?

I keep my 2 memory sticks and earphones in my left shirt pocket.

Ya well what if you were in a car and got hit from the left. Your Clie would be pretty smashed up too. Either way, chances are pretty slim.

Earbud pouch? I just got a T665 and the earbuds came in a cheap plastic bag...Am I missing something here?

I have the sena case. It has magnetic closure so I have to be careful not to keep it by credit cards. However, it is really form fitting and adds very little bulk. Also, it has two slots to carry memory sticks. I can sync in the cradle without rmoving the case, too. It even has a removable mirror on the inside cover.

I use the pocket armour case from DSI. It is well worth the money to protect your investment. It may seem OK to carry it without one but the first time it gets smashed you may wish it had been in a case.

I wouldn't want to test it out that way (at least with MY clie!) but it is pretty strong. I have dropped it a couple oof times and it didn't get a scratch on it. It has a much better closure than some of the other cases.

Actually no. I am able to hold it in one hand and read a book using my jogdial. But it is an individual choice, this one works for me and protects my precious clie.

Take a look at the slipper case from www.ebcases.com.
The reviews have been very good. Supposedly you can charge and hotsync without removing the T665 from the case.

I ordered slipper case and pen stylus from EB. I expect to recieve this in the next few days. I'll try to get back here with a message after I receive the shipment from EB.

Check out:

Good Luck!

I use the DSI case for my T665 and so far It has saved me a few times. (I think because I am not sure if it would have broke with out the case.)

I just received the Slipper Case from EB Cases, www.ebcases.com.

All I can say it WOW! Soft leather, but not too thick. Nice magnetic catch. Can Hot Sync in the case!
If you want a case, EB is very good. But, you may not need a case; just use the flap.

Also, I like their pen stylus. Looks and fits just like the Sony stylus, but has a ballpoint pen tip included.

Good Luck!
