Memory Stick (again)

I asked this question prior to the data loss, so again I will I post:

I was told by the salesperson that I must use the Sony Magic Gate stick for my new 665. I need to place several videos and would like to have MP3's available. I read that standard stck memory will work, if so, then would someone please post instructions on this proceedure.

You can use the standard MS for music and pictures (don't know about video). For MP3's, use MSImport to copy the files from your desktop to the MS. Don't use the program that comes with the Clie (I don't even remeber the name of it).

You only need Magic Gate for ATRAC3 files. MP3s and video will play just fine on the regular MS.

I can verify this as well...I use regular MS for my MP3s. (Lexar even and not Sony)

If you're using Kinoma, yes, you can use the regular (purple) MS. The mp3s will also work on it. Just don't use ATRAC-3 (that's what the white MS [MagicGate] is used for). Don't waste the extra bucks on the MG. I think it's a waste of money.

finally its important that you place the files in the right folder:
mp3's: palm/programs/msaudio
kinoma: palm/programs/kinoma
not sure about the gmovie but just sync one of the movies which came with the app and then store on ms and then the proper folder should be automatically generated

Yep, just start MSimport and you'll see the Memory stick appear as a removable drive in your Windows explorer, then simply drag drop your MP3 files into the right directory.

For some reason, on my computer, it takes about 20-30 seconds after the MS appear as a removeable drive before I can actaully get into the drive, if I try to get into it too soon, my computer will say something like "please inseart memory stick and try again...",
