View Full Version : Audio Player quit working!

The other day I tried the Audio Player on my NX60 - no sound (speaker or headphone). The MS light blinks away, but the progress indicator in the app doesn't move.

Sound in all other apps work fine.

Audio Player was working fine a couple weeks ago. I did install Datebk5 p#7 and Contacts 4.12 recently, and have NetFront installed (among various other things). I left queries on both Datebk and Contacts sites.

BTW, I did a hard reset, and the Audio Player worked fine. Just couldn't face hand-installing all my apps again, so just did a restore. I suppose if worse comes to worse, I'll have to hard reset and install one by one, checking Audio Player after each install, but was trying to avoid that.

Any suggestions would be helpful (other than buying a separate MP3 player, which is tempting at this point).

Thanks

Randy

Disable all your hacks if you have any, disable anything with alarms or that may run continous. Clie Mail, Audio, and Image recorders also kill the audio player.

Datebook and NetFront shouldn't affect it. I have no idea what else you are running. Obviously if the audio player works after a hard reset, then it has to be an interfering app or hack!

Hi, Larry

Thanks for the reply.

No hacks
Installed:

LauncherX 1.02
Contacts 4.12
Datebk 5 p#7
NetFront 3.0
PktQuicken
Filez 5.22
Documents to Go 5
Smarlisttogo 2.602
SplashPhoto & SplashID
Acid Freecell

Crazy thing is, most of this stuff was installed when it was still working...

Ah, well, it looks like the one-by-one reinstall.....

Sorry, I can feel the frustration. Your right these are apps that normally should cause no problem. It's possible that something in RAM is corrupt. By doing a restore from a corrupted backup, only puts the problem back. Do you have another memory stick you can try temporarily? I have seen memory sticks corrupted with errors just like they can be on a hard drive in a desktop PC. I have even used Norton's Disk Doctor for repairing it too, so I wouldn't have to reformat the memory stick.

New MS did same thing...well, went ahead and did the Hard-reset-and hand-reinstall thing (didn't take as long as I thought it would), and it worked like a charm. Sure am glad I kept track of all my reg codes on a SplashID desktop database!

Cheers

Sorry to hear you had to do it the hard way, but glad to hear it's working again.

This is one reason I keep rolling backups of RAM and my memory stick. It's all to easy to contaminate a backup without knowing. Especially the desktop when you HotSync.

what if you get your rolls confused?

No, you don't want to do that. That's why files and folders have dates and times.

I had the same problem on my NX70,.
I did a had reset and deleted a file called AVX_MP3DECODER.PRC from the backup folder on my PC, then I resync again to restore all the files except that one corrupted file. After that it worked fine. I hope this works for you.
Good Luck:cool:
