I was kinda/sorta thinking about getting a VZ90 and i was just wondering if you think that it is worth the money you payed for it, $1000. Also, do you think the price will go down after a while and i should buy it then, if i can.

You will have to wait at least a couple of years before the prices go down, but I wouldn't expect any great changes. Judging by the other (discontinued) Clie handhelds (UX,NX,TH) found on Ebay I don't think that the VZ will be sold cheaper than $800 (just a prediction).

Very self selecting poll. If you have decided to buy it, you probably think it is worth it. If you have decided not to buy it, you probably think it is not worth it ;->

How about this:
Has anyone who has purchased the device think it is a waste of money ?
[ie. buyers remorse]

We've been down this path before. When the UX50 and NZ90 originally came out, they were bloody expensive.

----
True, it is an expensive toy. However harping on the price isn't productive and won't make the price go down [also in the 'what else I would have bought' thread]

My advice: If you can afford it, and you like PDAs and want bragging rights, I suggest seriously evaluating it as your next toy -- it is a very cool PDA.

has anyone ever considered that the lifespan of OLED displays is still very limited? From what I heard if extensively used about 4 years, which makes the price/value calculation again quite interesting...

just my 2c

For the moment I'm not desapointed by the VZ, even if I have in the same time a UX...

UX:
I like the weight of the UX, its keyboard.
I dislike the autonomy (short), and some little memory.

VZ:
I like its autonomy (quite incredible), the screen, the media, the memory and the CF.
I dislike the weight and the lack of Bluetooth...

As always with SONY, you pay the quality, the innovation, the form factor, and of course... the name :D

Although I didn't buy VZ, I think it is worth it. Because if you tried to use it, you should love it. And in Japan, buying VZ means (identification) "you're really a big fan of CLIE" (of course, "you're rich" also :D)...

I really want to have one, but I haven't much money...

Oh my god, I just learned in two posts that:
-> I'm rich (I gotta call my banker to check that out),
-> I'm underknowing (I should really have a 35 "monkey approved" IQ then) :D

well with the euro being 135 E to the yen it cost alot less in your parts.

Nobody is calling you rich or whatever.............
Just a figure of speech.

well My comment is that of Japanese living here not NON Japanese buying the device thats what i wrote. To be correct.

ok, I'll dropped the NX80 for the VZ90. It was harder to get the NX than now the VZ.
I really loved both. But there are some things I miss at the VZ. That are a camera and mircophone. Omg... lets buy a NX70 for some bucks :D NZ90 still expensive (around 300 Euros. NX only 170)

no way, first, its expensive, second you have to learn another language, third the weight( i wouldnt mind the weight if i had a 2 MP cam but no cam? what's making it so heavy then?), fourth no keyboard( noooo i love this feature, why take it away) fiftih (still the same old 123mhz, cant sony improve the processor to 300mhz). the only thing you are really paying for is the beautiful OLED screen,

May I politely suggest you [re-]read my Day 1 report. There are plenty of unique features in the VZ90.
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69411

The amazing screen, the amazing battery life (makes it heavy), the more robust CF slot, the audio remote, the stereo speakers, landscape/portrait, more memory than any previous CLIE, ...
Also the good deed of supporting the poor little company struggling in the PalmOS PDA market ;->

BTW: You do not have to learn a new language. You have to tolerate some Japanese text.
---
As to the general pissing on the model. It may not be right for you - but please separate the "it is a poor value" argument from "it is a good/bad PDA" argument

For best value, a paper and pencil still beats out any PDA ;->

Great points so far, im still in the process of considering to buy the VZ90, but it is pretty obvious that more people say that it simply cost too much (3 good value, 10 too much, 3 still waiting). -BennieBoi

Geshhhhhhhh..........Well buyer remorse nothing. People who buy these don`t care about money PERIOD. Saying only good about Sony products is a joke, since there is a flood of unhappy sony owners around the world. I knew this was going to be release but just said NO! Because I can`t trust Sony after so many bad experiences. Many who live in Japan don`t either don`t trust them either.
I could be this if i want but hell why do i want the after shock of problem 1 year or so later........ Just my 2 yen worth of info

Saying that the VZ90 sucks because Sony sucks is a fair point of view to have. However repeating it half a dozen times on this thread is not productive IMHO

If you have a specific criticism of the VZ90 (other than it comes from Sony ;-) I think a lot of people would be interested in hearing about it. Also if there is an alternative available.

Yes the VZ90 is expensive, but so was the UX50 and NZ90 when they first came out.

ClieKun is correct with his opinion and you can't take that away for him. I too share his views, that there are plenty of Sony lover's who are believes in the Sony Brand and are hypnotized (higher price item must be better).

The point is there is not much going for the Clie VZ90, what it has in benefits it lacks in general features we all know about them and I don't want to debate them.

Face it, Clie's past was a great run and Sony did nothing really to capitalize on it and if you or anyone thinks the VZ90 is Sony's Killer product they are wrong that technology should have been available with the release of the UX series. Now we are just faced with Sony pulling the plug on International Clies with bailing out on the supporting and development.

Who really wants a product that has no future, Think about it....

Thanks, Vision
