As of this morning my TH55 appears dead. It won't turn on. It won't soft reset. It won't hard reset. It doesn't react to pressing any buttons. It shows that it is charging (orange power light comes on), but that's all it does. Any suggestions or is this a straight case of taking it in for repairs? I bought the unit last April 2004.
Suggestions welcome.

Try Hard Reset while it is charging (In-Cradle Reset).
Or look here (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(887))

My th55 died about 4 weeks ago. I dropped it and it went totally dead. It ttook a charge when I plugged it in but refused to turn on or reset, hard or otherwise, at all. So I called Sony. I was still under the manufacturers warranty so they sent me a box to ship it in and it was back in a week, purring like a kitten. They had to replace a power widget, whatchamacallit.
Call 1-800-282-2848. They will take you through a lot of questions, mainly, whether or not a hard reset will solve the problem. Good Luck! :)

Thanks. I spoke to Sony Canada, they want me to bring it in to their head office which is a few miles from my home. They asked all the reset questions as you predicted. MD

Would you believe that I had to send it back to sony again, yesterday!? I dropped it again! (I don't know what is wrong with me, lately) So I am waiting for my new aluminum case to get here. It will probably get here the same time that I get my baby back from Sony...hopefully!

Sounds like you need a foam lined little red wagon to pull it around in! :D

So anyone have any idea how long we can expect Sony to continue be willing to repair our Clies? I just purchased a TH55/E and I'm getting a little paranoid about anything happening to it. It's not under warranty anymore, but I'll be a lot more comfortable using it if I knew that I could get it repaired should an accident occur.

Well, they cannot replace it, so just do not hurt it "beyond repair".
Make sure your pda is not in "hold" mode. My pda died once, or so I thougut, and I did a hard reset and nothing. About a half hour later I realized it was on hold!

Of course I checked that! But thanks for the suggestion!
