What should you do? I have the SJ30 and its been a pest latelty. The paint is starting to smear and it looks very unattractive. The buttons are becoming inoperable and Im having to go about accessing those buttons the long way. The digitizer is all screwed up. When I hit the stylus to say open up hotsync it goes and clicks on a different app a half an inch away fom it. Then I go to reset the digitizer to get it working again but it stays the same. So you can imagine the problems trying to open programs. So I have had to resort to using the job dial to open apps. So what can I do about this? It has its warranty and all that. So Are there places where you can trade it in for the same model or the next one up and can pay the difference? Beause these things are to pricy to replace. I was thinking to just replace it with the SJ33, but I need to know the right way, and I hope someone can help with that nfo.
Any help greatly appreciated.

What on earth have you been doing to your Clie? Sounds pretty beat up, thats for sure. All kidding aside. If it is less than a year old (when did the SJ30 come out?) that means it is you could send it back to Sony and have them repair it. Although if they think you've dropped it or something they may not honor their warranty. But it is worth a try.

Did you buy it at a Best Buy, Circuit City kind of place or some place where you were also purchased an extended warranty? If so you may beable to use that extended warranty. Bring the SJ30 in and see what they say. They may allow you to pick out another SJ30 or an SJ33.

Doesn't sound like you bought that kind of warranty though so I guess your real choices are sending it back to Sony to see if they'll fix it, or buy another one.

I like the part about "the job dial" myself.

Yeah, I bought it at Circuit City and got one of those warranties for $30 bucks. I bought the thing back in early December. And they came out in mid August.
And Rob, thats abviously a typo, I meant it to say jog dail...if that wasnt obvious to you.
And no, it never dropped, atleast that I know of. The paint is smeary from being in my jeans pocket everyday, thier is no dents or anything.

Gazpacho: sure man, buy my Clie at retail price and its all yours. :D

Wow, you're Clie is only 3 months old and it has that many problems? I have one PDA that is a year old and still in MINT condition. My T665c was purchased in October, also in mint condition as is the SJ20 I bought as a backup 2 months ago.

I think you better invest in a case!

Im just gonna invest in a new one and take better care of it......even though I never did anything wrong to it in the first place. I guess its just dumb luck. :P

Gianni,

If you want, send me a pm of E-mail to discuss the price of a SJ30 frontcover. It's better to sell the parts (i.e. the battery) away for a few bucks than throw the whole device away.

warranty, anyone?

Sell it and buy an SJ33. The battery life is better than the SJ30, believe it or not (in addition to MP3 + polyphonic sounds + 66Mhz processor + flip cover).

Jeff, if you read, I already said I have the warranties.

Gazpacho: I was only kidding, Im not selling the thing.

Then your only option is to sell it? :p

Try eBay.

I have, very few broken SJ30 are offered on eBay.

I don't think people realise that they can sell it for parts when the thing breaks down. Or it always breaks down in a horrible manner. :)

Its not broken, its just messed up.

I wasn't referring to your SJ30... :)

Boy lots of misunderstanding in this thread ;-)

"JOB DIAL" does the jog......

Hey Gazpacho,

I have a SJ20 cover in pretty good condition, do you want to buy that? If so, just email me with an offer.

There are no obvious scratches, the front is very nice with good stitching, the 'CLIE' letters are a little scratched.

The SJ20 cover is dark grey.

I second the SJ33. It's much better than the SJ30 as stated above. And you can switch the covers for color is you're feeling a bit crazy.
