Virtual Grafatti area problem

My Tungsten T3 will not allow me to change the Virtual Grafatti area to the option that allows me to enter text by writing. The Keyboard is active and there is no option to select the hand writng area. currently there are three options available are:

ABC
abc
123

I have done a soft reset by pressing the reset button on the back. no luck.

any help would be appreciated.

First try doing a tap-and-hold on the up/down arrow in the status bar (last icon on the right). It should pop up three choices: keyboard, wide and classic (little pictures). If that doesn't work, go into Preferences => Input and choose either wide or classic, whichever you prefer.
