I am working on a cable to allow Sony handhelds with a T-series connector to talk to a serial 56k modem. One thing that got me thinking was that the Clie also has the USB Rx and Tx lines... Could that be used to communicate with a USB device, provided a driver was written?
THANKS!

BTW: The Sony CLIE site has mechanical drawings, and pinouts for most of the connectors. They also have a schematic for building your own serial cradle

[you need to register to get to most of the mechanical details

I don't think it applies to the lower end SL10, but the NZ90 does have "USB host" support.
It is currently only used for printing.
ie. You can directly connect a printer to your PDA and print. Only 3 Epson models are currently supported.
BUT the UsbHost interface library is not documented. I have yet to find any public documentation on writing drivers in general.
--------
All models of CLIE use USB for hot-syncing (ie. the CLIE is the slave, and the PC is the host/master)

I made a program for a Palm m130 to communicate via a serial interface. There also only the USB is provided, but the normal serial interface is connected at the connector. And the documentation is in the Palm OS.
I don't know the Sony interface in detail, but if I see the connector I think its the same as at the m130 device.
