I'm quite new to the PDA world so sorry if this question sounds silly.
I have been checking out websites like these since i bought myself a TE a few months ago. It's pretty interesting to see the development in this market and I've become a big PDA fan craving more features and inovation as I use my little gadget (use it for studying).
Now to the question:
I'v been wondering why everybody is waiting for PalmOne to put out an OS 6 version of a handheld. Since PalmOne and PalmSource are no longer one company why wouldn't f.ex. Tapwave or Sony be the first one to step up and take use of the new OS?
tapf!

yeah, good question.
I guess everybody is waiting for palmOne to come out first with OS6 because:
1. palmOne and Palmsource was once under the same roof
2. palmOne is the largest PalmOS hardware manufacturer
But hay, didn't everybody remember that the first OS5 model was the Sony Clie NX70? (Or did I got it wrong?)
Now let's see,
>Sony is out(I was perviously waiting for something like a new NX with OS6, but then sony disapointed everybody by droping the market), and even in Japan, there won't be any new clies this year. (According to an interview with a VZ90 developer; I guess they're making way for the PSP)
>Tapwave? I don't know, they haven't got anything else new after the Zodiac1&2
>Garmin? Their top concern is GPS, so I don't think they would need to be the first, since GPS already works good on OS5
>Other licensees? Forget it, these guys don't look as aggressive in the market as the one's mentioned above.
>Maybe some new licensee? That would be a good suprise! :D

The answer is simple. Most Palm OS users could care less. It is the people on this and other boards who what to be able to say they have the coolest and latest features, who care.
