I dunno why... I just want to beam a file from my clie to my comp through IRDA, but the comp can't detect the clie that time... so I just make a soft-reset on my ux50. and then the clie hang at the palm logo grey background there... without proceeding to the preference screen. even how many soft-reset I have made the problem still remain the same. anyone outhere can help? I'm very tension now...... I worry I will lost my clie for a few months due to the warranty claiming. tq.

Try a Warm Reset (Is that what its called?)
Hold the UP button on your device then do a soft reset. Your PDA will stop at the Palm Logo, then let go of the UP button. This is sort of a Safe Mode boot in Windows, it will bypass system extensions and just boot the pda. If this works do another soft reset and let your handheld boot normally. If you have recently installed an app which you think might be causing your pda to hang-up during boot then you should try deleting that app just before you do a soft reset otherwise it will just cause your pda to hang again. Hope this helps.

Ya, I know which reset you mention coz last time I uninstall the silk skin I use this warm reset to uninstall. and well, it is a bad news! :( nothing happen after I do a warm reset also. just hanged on the logo there.

I think you should try a Hard Reset, you will be able to restore with a hotsync anyway if you don't use the backup from ux. When was the last time you did a hotsync? Well anyway if a hard reset works, again delete any application from \Program Files\Sony Handheld\<your id>\Backup on your PC that you recently installed on your handheld which you think is causing the crash before you do a hotsync. Hoping for the best!

the main reason is my main comp 1 week ago motherboard spoiled. I only can get back the comp 1 month later. and within this week I go alot of new data haven't hotsync.

How about the UX's built-in backup? When was the last time you ran backup?

This thread reminds me how important it is to hotsync, or backup to Ram or MS. If you cant get it to pass the intro screen, sad to say, you might have to hard reset. After this is over, you'll know the importance of backing up. I learned this way as well, so I know where you are coming from.

The moral to the story is..............when you have your UX in your hand & have 2 minutes to kill, backup to your MS & Internal card.

Hey You Qi - Dags from over on Bike or Die! here - sorry to hear about all your probs. In the mean time it will give the rest of us a chance to catch up with you aliens! ;)

On a related note I changed from a TH55 to a T3 and am just starting to beat my old times - it's taken me 2 months to reprogram my fingers and brain to the new device.

I highly recommend checking out BackupMan if you want a good back up proggy btw. It's saved me many a time.

I strongly second this sentiment. Backupman is the most important application on my UX-50, bar none.

i simply use the ux's powersave option. does a good job for me. whenever i try out new apps i remember to back it up first. any problems encountered just hard reset, restore and walla!! everything's back as before :D

The only thing can can suggest is to let the batt drain completly, keep hard resetting then putting it on the charger. Do that 10-20 times. Once the orange light comes on, you should be set. Thats what I did when it happed 2 me.
