Hi, I've got an NX80V that just recently broke on me. It only powers on when it's in the cradle or plugged in. I'm absolutely positive the battery is fully charged. The memory also deletes when I turn it back on. I bought it off ebay and the original owners seems to have lost the original invoice so my warranty is voided.
So what I did was put it back for sale on ebay and this guy emails me and says he'll fix it for $65 guaranteed or money back. He also says that it's very complicated so it's not good to DIY.

I loved my Clie and the last thing I want to do is sell it. But I don't know if I should trust this guy or not. should I?
Or does anyone else have a solution to my problem?

thanks

eh...haven't thought of that yet. Sony is charging me $14.95 just to figure out what's wrong with it over the phone. Sounds like a waste of time to me. I did drop it once but it still worked fine. After it stopped working, I realized there's a rattling sound when you shake it.
...The guy emailed me back and sounded like he knows what he's doing...
Hi,
I worked for a local repair shop that did electronics and computer repairs. I am currently attending college for Information Technology with a networking concentration. The unit from what you have said could be several things in range from loose ribbon cables to weakened solder joints or loose components on the board itself.
Few questions:
Have you ever dropped the unit? Exposed to extreme temperatures recently?
Those two are the cause for many sudden problems with electronics. Boards nowadays are made with so many components in the and the traces, which are the paths for electrons, data, etc. can easily be damaged. Chances are it is a minor repair hence the low cost of repair which would be parts 30-40 dollars and labor @30/hr which would make $65.. I see plenty of items that are listed and many of the problems seem to be very minor, but if repaired at the wrong place the cost increases well beyond reasonable amounts many components are available at the cost of 1000 for only 10 dollars! The most expensive things would be the LCD, processor, RAM or ROM and battery.
Thank you for replying and hope that this helps. Good luck
