CC has the TG50, just bought mine :)

After waiting and wanting for so long, I called Circuit City up, found out they had 4 in stock, and bought one. Note that they won't be on display until tomorrow or Monday, but they will sell one to you, and let you look at it before purchasing.

My quick thoughts before I go back to playing (keep in mind I have been using a T665 with sony thumbboard):

-Weight seems only slightly noticibly heavier than the 665 (2.5 oz), but the size difference is hardly worth mentioning.
-OS5 is nice, but nothing new for you guys
-The new speaker is definitely better; as good as my old Ipaq, obviously louder.
-The keyboard is good. I think my 7.5 size hands do well with it, but the keys are small and shallow. My preference in thumbboards would have to be: seiko > sony add-on > TG50. The TG50's keyboard is good, but not perfect.
-The screen is really bright on full. If you guys hadn't told me it was smaller than the T665, I would never have noticed it. Don't let this issue stop anyone from buying the TG50.
-The flip cover is good, much more protective than the old flimsy one on my t665, but I would have preferred one that would flip all the way around. Nice springy action, though.
-I can actually see how the bluetooth light might become distracting. It is bright.
-The voice recorder is great. Very sensitive.
-The integrated hold/power button is okay, but it's not protected. I can see myself turning it on while sliding it in my pocket. Not sure I like this change.
-the keyboard lights up. wow.
-Wavey lines at the bottom of the screen. These have been present to some degree on every PDA I've owned, and they just don't bother me anymore. I don't see this as a major issue, either, but I know it is to some of you.
-Hard keys are indeed hard. Same old middle rocker button, but it is slightly better. Slightly.

Back to playing. Bottom line, I'm not even thinking of returning. This is going to be my electronic device of choice for a while.

Is toggling to VG on the TG-50 quick? My concern about the VG is entering the quick appt., note, or todo in a meeting, etc.

Also, have you found a way to "tab" through form fields? Infosync mentioned that as a potential problem.

Try tabbing by pressing "Ctrl" and then "Tab" to see if it works... works fine on my NR70v's keyboard.

VG is very quick to enter. Just press the round button on the left and it pops up in an instant. Just like all the applications with the 200mhz processor, blip, and you're good to go.

Also, the CTRL-TAB combo will switch easily between fields, say, in contacts.

I picked up my TG50 from CC here in Tucson, AZ. I was the first person at the store to buy one, and I arrived right as they were setting up the display model. They also were putting out the SJ22 as well.

Why do you want to get rid of the nr70v so bad? I tried out a TG-50 at CC yesterday and have decided to keep my 70 - anyone who has used a Palm device for awhile is likely to be faster using graffiti than a thumb kb, going back and forth between the kb and required taps on screen just isn't very efficient - I think that the Tg-50 will appeal to Palm device newbies but not so much to existing users, I rarely use the kb on my 70, almost always in tablet mode... plus, it's awful difficult to get used to a 320x320 screen when you've been using a 320x480! I really liked the form factor and overall design of the TG-50 but will hold out for a VG model before upgrading - my "tricked out" nr70v with TapPad, Xlauncher, and Datebk5 is just too efficient!!!

I picked up the TG50, and I like it but it does have some nitpicks about it that will take some getting used too. Even though the keyboard is backlit, I'm still learning how to use it and I have yet to learn where all of extra characters are, so at times I have to pull up the Software Graffiti. I have doubts about the TG50, but then I realize there are no devices that come close to the TG50. I may end up using it until a version with Graffiti and Hi-Res+ comes out. I cannot believe how much I miss Graffiti, or how familiar I was with it. I do like the keyboard, but like with Graffiti originally it will take time to learn.

Go get Newpen -- it allows you to do Graffiti anywhere on the screen.

Have you tried it out on the TG50? If it does work with it, let me know. I've noticed some of the games I like and have don't work very well on my TG50 but everything else does. I'd love to have Graffiti on the screen, so I'll have to check to see if NewPen works. Thanks for the Info!

Just tried it... works for me! Although it seems you have to originate the stroke from the top half of the screen for some reason.

PALM Tungsten W
it seems to me to be the exact same thing, plus a phone. im not dissing it, i have yet to see it, but the W is really cool, and the thumb board is really cool. I like grafetti becasue it is cool, in a way, using it feels more special and palm like than a keyboard

The T|W does not have OS5, or the multimedia features the TG50 has that I like. So, like I said there is nothing like it.
