The nice thing here is the ability to substitute NetFront fonts. You could go blind reading a lot of text in NF...

That's always a feature thing to see in a program's update :)

The program was not working properly on my T3, I informed lubak and in less than 30 minutes he sent me a new prc file. Amazing

Since it's 3.0, I decided to give it another try, having had some compatibility issues with this app in the past. So far I'm happy to report no issues! :) Now all we need is a few new fonts! ;) Thanks a lot Lubak!!! ;)

Does anyone have any problems as to why I keep getting a fatal error message when I hotsync and try to activate Fonts4OS5 3.00.
Message reads, "FontHack.Utils.c, Line 68: 68, Not Enought Memory".
I have 11.2MB available on my NX80V.
I even emailed lubak back and forth, but nothing.
I keep getting an error. I tried going back to 2.00, but I get the same message. I have to use 1.10 right now. Any ideas as to what could cause 3.00 to act crazy??

I've had no problems on my NX70.
I followed the upgrade directions stricktly - set all the fonts to default, disabled the app, deleted it [and the fonts] an did a soft reset before installing the new version.

So far, the new version seems to be completely compatible with my TH55! I like the new ability to change Sony's smaller fonts, the only problem is there are no font db's available (yet) for Fonts4OS5 which are as small as Sony's. The smallest available is 16pt, which is still considerably larger than Sony's. Sony's small fonts must be in the 10 - 12 pt range?

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, France is accusing the US of arrogance and Germany doesn't want to go to war
Sooo funny mr. sheen! (and so true!) ;) :D

Two issues I've run across after trying Fonts4OS5 3.0:
1) When entering contact info in Agendus, you can't see what you're typing, i.e. the colors are all screwy. Deactivated Fonts4OS5 and activated FontSubst and the colors are behaving normally.
2) Had a freeze on Bonsai while hotsyncing. Never had that happen until I reinstalled Fonts4OS5. It reminded me that when I first got my TH55 and installed Fonts4OS5, there were random, weird syncing issues, which I do not get with FontSubst.
So, I'm back with FontSubst. Both do the job with the two fonts I use, one for "General" (all apps) and a different one for eReader so that the words wrap properly when going to next page. General = Comic Sans 14 (Fonts4OS5) and Gill 14 for FontSubst (very similar). eReader = Tungsten (Fonts4OS5) and Tahoma 12 for FontSubst (with font = large in eReader). So I'm going with "if it aint broke, don't try to fix it" with FontSubst, which works flawlessly, meeting my designer fonts needs. ;)

Fonts4OS5 3.0 works great on my T3. I have 137 apps and no conflicts. I use Comic Sans 22 for most apps, but a few others set differently. The category assignments save me time when I want to change a group of apps, like file managers or readers. The 320x480 was a nice update for my T3.
wellsjs - You can set the fonts to default for apps that don't play nice with Fonts4OS5 on Sony devices. That should solve the problem. I don't use either app you mention, so can't offer anything more specific.
I used other approaches, but Fonts4OS5 is the easiest to use and customize.

hmmm. Are you tapping Close on the font selection screen after choosing a font rather than directly exiting the app some other way from that screen?

Actually, it seems there is a problem with Fonts4OS5 the T5. After a reset, the fonts aren't re-activated, even with the checkbox checked.

Yeah, thats when I'm getting it. ZL5 is not playing nice with my T5 either and I simply can't go without ZL.

FYI, if you launch Fonts4OS5 after a reset, uncheck and recheck the box, all your font settings are restored just fine.

I had to re-delete everything (fonts and program), then re-install and it's working. Before I think I forgot to delete the main program. Anyway, it's retaining my settings now.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I seem to be doing frequent soft resets with the T5.

FontSubst is, if anything, easier to configure than Fonts4OS5 and there is no check box for automactic activation after a reset . . . it just does it! ;)

I did a quick install the other day on my NX73 - noticed that I could not find the icon on any of the Zlauncher tabs. Disabled Zlauncher and found the icon in the Palm launcher list.
I invoked it but found that I could not get any font selections to take - it always defaulted. I had done an uninstall by deactivating and removing all the fonts from the memory card.
I went back to the previous version and all is ok.
I will try more this weekend.

I have to ammend my previous experience - I'm getting compatability problems with default fonts in DateBk5. The sony small fonts aren't small enough, and the default fonts don't show up unless I deactivate the program entirely. The p in pm doesn't show up properly in the day view and the list view is all messed up.
I've also had a few 'white screen of death' problems. I may need to go back to the previous version.

CESD released a second preview today that addresses the small font issues and an alarm issue. You can pick it up on the DB5 Yahoo beta forum or the support forum.

My Font Collector program will fix that, since you'll be able just to convert OS4 and earlier FontHack fonts on device, and these fonts wil be quite small.

I tried F4OS5 3.00 a couple of days ago, but I got the same error message that I have been getting (FontHack.Utils.c, Line 68: 68, Not Enought Memory)
Come to think of it when I was using F4OS5 2.00, I don't think I deactiviated it before installing 3.00. How do I go back and remedy this problem? I tried reinstalling 2.00 but get an error and a soft reset when I touch the f4OS5 icon.
Is there a file or something that I can delete that will let me use 2.00 or even 3.00??
I guess I am stuck with 1.11 or - I may have to see what is conflicting with the app. Anyone ever had this happen??
tanker_bob

Just delete the old version completely and install 3.0 from scratch. You may have to reinstall your fonts as well. By leaving the old ones active, you may have ended up with a mix of incompatible files.

When I install F4OS5 2.00 I get "FontHack.Utils.c, Line 68: 68, Not Enought Memory" and a soft reset.
When I install F4OS5 3.00 I get "mem_leak.c, Line 79:, Not Enought Memory"
and a soft reset.
When I install F4OS5 1.11 everything is fine.
I even deactivated it and tried installing 2.00, but I get the same error for 2.00.
I have used Filez, McFile, and ZLauncher File app to check and see if there are any preference files or anything leftover fromthe uninstall when I use ZL5.0 for the uninstall.
I think there are a couple of apps that are conflicting with it though, but I have never had problems with 2.00 before using the same hundred or so apps.
Then again, when I had 2.00, I accidentally forgot to RTFM for 3.00, ie, return to the original Sony font, deactivate the F4OS5 2.00, THEN install the 3.00 prc.
So I guess I will use 1.11 for awhile or try installing apps one at a time from scratch.
I am sure someone has installed a version over another version by accident   and had to find a way to get F4OS5 working properly again.
Let me know if anyone has an idea. ;)

It sounds like a system preference was corrupted as a result of not switching back to the default font before upgrading. If you have a copy of your Saved Preferences file from before your bad install, you can probably restore it to get you back to even again.

Thanks Tanker_Bob.
It doesn't hurt to try.
I will restore a Saved Preference from 9-28-04.
Should I also restore F4OS5 2.00?
Get everything back to normal, then follow the instructions for 3.00 installation? Correct? :D
Thanks I knew someone knew what to do in this case.

Yep. Go back to what you had, then start over. But 9/28 seems like a long time ago. If you installed and registered any software in the interim, you'll have to re-input the codes for that software. Also, many app settings will revert to that point. Keep a copy of your current Saved Preferences just in case something important changed in the interim.
If that doesn't work, the save a copy of Unsaved Preferences and then just delete the the current one. You may lose some game scores and maybe a registration or two, but you can recover those. Developers aren't supposed to use Unsaved Preferences to store permanent information.
I have no problem with new version. It was a smooth upgrade. I just followed the instruction to do the following steps:
1. Return the font to the original Palm/Sony font.
2. Disable the Fonts4OS5.
3. Clean delete all Fonts4OS app in RAM and all fonts in MS.
4. Soft reset.
5. After insuring that no trace of Fonts4OS5 left over in RAM and MS (Uninstall Manager helped me do that), then installed v3.0 to RAM and all 3.0 fonts to MS.
My guess is those people that were having problems with the upgrade is because they just copy over the apps in RAM and the fonts in MS, instead of started with a clean slate.

The error says fonthack. Could having this installed cause the prblem, because this would certainly cause a conflict.
I was wondering about that too. Isn't FontHack only for OS4, not OS5?

Do you mean "FontHackUtils.c" ?
It is from version 2.x
No problems here at all w/ the new version. Thank you for the T3 fonts -- that's all I've ever wanted!
I found the bottom half of Fonts4OS5 characters got chopped off by ZLauncher5 Today (see the screenshot, below). As you see in the screenshot the ToDo item "1gpjqy" looks great, but the last one, "2gpjqy" shows only the top half. Is this ZL5 problem or Fots4OS5? My suspicision is ZLauncher sets the Today plugin border too close to the bottom of the fonts. If non TH PalmOS5 unit shows the same thing then that confirms my suspicion. BTW, the font is Tahoma22, but other fonts do the same on my TH.

This seems as ZL problem with calculating height of row.
If you try any 22px fonts, this is O.K. Smaller fonts caused problems.
