Just got my TG-50 today, and i was a little shocked to find out that there is only 11 meg internal to play with. There is altogether 16, but evidently you can only access (by normal methods) 11 of it. Even on the info screen it says 10.4M of 11M. Pretty wild. I guess that's where my 128 Meg MS comes into play though;)

Well, it's awesome to hear others getting their TG50s so soon. It gives me a sense of confidence that either my BB, CC or CompUSA will have it when I look tomorrow. Wait a minute, it is already tomorrow! Woohoo! Now, all I have to do is wait eight hours so I can get a decent nights sleep!

so we are missing 5 out of the 16mb. it sucks but oh well. one of the new veiwsonic ppcs has only 36 of the claimed 64mb. that really sucks.

I personally refuse to upgrade my NR until there is a new Palm device that doubles the RAM. That and hires+ are a couple of the most appealing features of the new Garmin.

Just how crippling is this small supply of available memory? If you can run applications off the memory stick, and can eventually use a Memory Stick Pro, will this really constrain users?

I would like eventually to run some sort of city map program on the next PDA I get. Will the 11 mb available be a serious constraint?

Between the editable DBs the have to be in RAM and the apps that hotsync and have to be in RAM, RAM disappears pretty fast. Maps are a particular strain on RAM, since they have to be in RAM to view them. I spend a lot of time exploring ways to move stuff out of RAM, deleting unessential stuff and temporarily moving stuff to MS to free up RAM. I am also happy with my NR, so the only reason I can think of to upgrade, would be for significantly more RAM. The new larger MS will also put a strain on RAM, since apps stored on them will require support dbs in RAM (those MS also won't work with my NR anyway).

Kickoo breakout loaded in just a couple of seconds from a memory stick on my TG-50, compared to 15 seconds on my T615. I don't see any problem running programs from the memory stick.

Also Ctrl-P on the keyboard jumps to the next field when you are filling in a form, so the tab key not doing that is not an issue.

Also, go get the OS5 version of JackFlash and reclaim 4MB (in ROM, not RAM, though ;) )

Thanks Sebring. Your post was very helpful to me. I haven't really been asking a lot of my current PDA since it was an older "hand-me-down." But that's going to change and my next one is going to be a real workhorse.
