View Full Version : Constant "Fatal Exception" errors

I just bought a reconditioned TH55/U from Expansys. It works great except for rather troubling and frequent fatal exception errors. A soft reset always works, but it is still annoying. I haven't been able to discover a pattern here, except that the MP3 player often gags. (I currently have a 60MB Hagiwara MS.) I also had many crashes while logged on to my webmail over Wi-Fi. I also can't get my Belkin Wireless keyboard (F8U1500) to work (though Belkin would not guarantee me that it was compatible). It crashes either when I just activate the software, sometimes when the infrared makes contact or just thereafter.

Can anyone tell me whether this sounds like a software or a hardware problem? I have already tried a hard reset and completely reinstalling all software, making sure that my old database (imported from my lost Visor Edge) wasn't reinstalled in case it was corrupt. If it is a software problem, how do I fix it? If it is a hardware problem, what are my chances of getting it resolved by Expansys if I send it back on it's 90-day warranty (for reconditioned models)?

Thanks in advance :(

Have you tried using it bare bones? No Memory stick, or add on programs? If it crashes then, I'd return it. Your keyboard program sounds suspect to me.

I did try to reproduce the crashes in bare bones mode. So far, no problems. But I can't test the MP3 playback without the Memory Stick inserted (or can I?). I will test the Wi-Fi connection when I'm near a hotspot tomorrow. I'll obviously give up on the keyboard quickly, but I thought there may be some more systemic problem. Has anyone else ever tried to use the Belkin wireless with the TH55?

In the hopes that someone else has some ideas, I should also mention that I did download and install the various software updates.
