Does anybody know of any utility that allows you to a shared folder or shared drive on the desktop, so you can copy stuff to your memory stick?
Basically, MS Import wireless?
Thanks

Sure there is, and it's called MobileFile (http://cesinc.com/mobilefile/index.html) .
First problem is that you should firs install QuickOffice (http://cesinc.com/quickoffice_premier/index.html) in order it to work.
Second problem, is that you can only transfer files into RAM.

Man that should really come with QuickOffice Premier. I just upgraded for the 3rd time with QuickOffice. I'm getting a little sick of CESinc getting my money. I want to spread it around to other developers.

Yeah, but, only certain files can go into RAM.

right- they'd have to be one of the accepted formats and be able to fit in memory- a pretty big limitation if you ask me. how hard would it be to develop such an app?

I have been thinking about developing something to fit this need. Somewhat.
What I would like to have is a way to mount a NFS/SAMBA/NTFS shared folder/drive/files to a virtual memory slot, via WiFi on the LAN. Which I could access my clie files without having to remember to convert and copy to MS or CF storage. Not to mention; remembering to pack the storage with the Clie before leaving the house/office.

Bluetooth 1.1 supports a file browsing protocol. Downloading MobileFIle now. Hope it supports that.

Well, 2 seconds later, I realize it isn't the Bluetooth standardized method... instead it's proprietary. Would love to see some develop a simple Bluetooth File Browsing app... would be even better integrated into something like ClieFiles, McFile or FileZ (hint hint) ;)

I use McFile to transfer just about anything I want from my PC over bluetooth. Just drag and drop over the OBEX push icon and it'll "push" anything over to the palm. Them have McFile save it on the MS and youre set!
I ususally use this to have my t68i to send pics over to the clie

That is fine when you are sitting at the source host pushing to your palm via BT. But what I am after is to access/edit files on multiple servers, work and home workstations via CF.
Has to pull, not push. Otherwise, then why screw with BT/WAP, and just user the Hotsync.

get an access point and use a palm FTP client, can't think of much else.
