OK. So I have a dead TH55 (dropped in Water) and now CompUSA has agreed to replace it for me because I have a replacement plan. BUT, i'm a little nervous. They're sending me a new one, and I have to send this broken one to them. I realized that I'm an idiot and I have some personal data on here that I don't want public (eg account information, passwords, private thoughts, etc.).

I know the thing is busted (doesn't even power on) but is my data safe? Could they fix it and then get my personal data off the thing? Is there anything I can do? A hard reset isn't an option, because I can't turn it on...

Thanks

Dropped in water, ouch --- Well the good news is that since your Clie wont power on, it is very likely that all of the data in your ram has been erased (it needs power) if you were talking about the new Tungsten T5's this would be a completely different scenario, since the T5's now incorporate flash memory (does not need power) I wouldnt worry about sending your clie back to comp usa. If it makes you feel better you could always toss it in the toilet and give it a couple of safety flushes, it will definately be dead then, however please note that you should only try the toilet flushing trick with a clean and empty toilet. That would truly suck if your were a comp usa tech and opened a box with a poopie clie in it. I hope this helps! ;)
