View Full Version : CF slot problem of VZ90
Hi everyone. :)
I purchased VZ90 on the other day.
I began research about CF slot which VZ90 has.
It is the same work as I and Pelaca carried out before.
http://usagiya.g-com.ne.jp/mini/minidoco/minidoco30.jpg
First, I made patch driver for five kinds of communication cards.
As a result, only two kinds of communication cards worked well.
The communication card which works by VZ90 is following two.
NTT DoCoMo P-in Free 2PWL (Made by Panasonic) (http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p_s/products/card/p-in_free/2pwl/index.html)
NTT DoCoMo P2402 (Made by Panasonic) (http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p_s/products/foma/terminal/card/p2402/p2402_01.html)
The communication card which does not works by VZ90 is following three.
NTT DoCoMo P-in Free 1S (Made by Sharp) (http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p_s/products/card/p-in_free/1s/index.html)
i-Card Type F1 (Made by SUNTAC) (http://www.sun-denshi.co.jp/scc/products/mobile/cs64cf/cs64cf.htm)
CFGPS2 (Made by IO-DATA) (http://www.iodata.jp/products/peripheral/2002/cfgps2/)
NOTE: Open and Close function of a communication card is no problem, but hang-up during communication.
I had the impression whose CF slot of VZ90 is very severe timing conditions.
I am researching for the method of adjusting timing. (ie. MCMEMx,MCATTx,MCIOx...)
Thanks.

Good work ;)
For the moment it seems it is Japanese network... Do you know if there are also CF cards which could handle GSM network, or UMTS network?

It is common to use CF communication card in Japan.
Also in my knowing, 20 or more kinds of products exist.
These are all original specifications and can use only the inside of Japan.
Were you surprised?
I know with the product outside Japan.
It is Audiovox RTM8000 only.

According to my memory, Pelaca made a driver for Audiovox RTM8000.
I can convert this driver into VZ90 further.
However, I cannot do the guarantee which it works by VZ90.
As I have stated, there is a possibility of not stabilizing and working on the problem of timing.
I regard that it works well as 50% of possibility.

Do you purchase RTM8000?
You are an adventurer.
Ok.
I will make patch driver for RTM8000 at this weekend.
Please try and report here.

:D a litlle ;)
I found a shop who has it, I contacted the shop, I should have it in 3 to 4 days ;)

First, I analyzed the Pelaca's old driver.
And I found out the CIS information on RTM8000.
[RTM8000 CIS information]
VID 0279h
PID 950bh
Config Table Number 05h
IO address 02f8h
Based on this information, I made patch software for VZ90.
I cannot do a guarantee.
Does this patch work well or not?
I pray your fortune. :)

Hi.
Ok I received the card and I tested it and I can't do anything :p
I installed successfully the driver and the card is reconised by the system.
Here are my differents tests so far:
1°) Normal configuration GPRS:
If I use a "standard" configuration:
Modem side:modem / RTM8000 / 56 kb / AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","websfr"
Network side: Login = password = G / phone = *99# (or *99***1#) / DNS checked (or not) / IP not checked / no script
I got no really error, it tryes two times to connect (launching: CF GPRS, the name of my connection for 15 or 20 seconds), I can see the CF card blinking red (wake up) and then blink green (ready to go), the VZ tryes to connect but it does not do anything...It just try to connect twice and then stops with a 0x1102 error.
2°) Script version GPRS:
If I try this:
Modem side: linked to = PC / RTM8000
Network side: login = password = G / DNS checked (or not)
Script:
Send: ATZ
Send RC
Send: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","websfr"
Send RC
Wait: 1
Send: *99***1#
Send RC
End
In this case I got the book icon, then the handshake icon and then an error: 0x1231 (PPP timeout).
If before the END I add:
Wait: CONNECT
Then I got another error: 0x1212 (timeout).
3°) Normal configuration Modem:
I try to establish a "modem" connection with an ISP:
Modem side:modem / RTM8000 / 56 kb / ATZ (or nothing)
Network side: Login = xxxx / password =yyyy / phone = 01234567890 (phone number of my Isp) / DNS checked (or not) / IP not checked / no script
I got the book and then the handshaking icon, but then an error: 0x1102...
4°) Phone:
I try to make a call (same as 3°) but I put a phone number of mine), it rings successfully, I hear "bip, bip, bip" as a fax request on the called line...
Anyway, it seems it does not work, I tryed quite a lot of things and I will try more tonight :)
lmame.
You have succeeded in sounding the bell of a telephone with the 4th test.
I judge that RTM8000 is working well according to this fact. :)
You should act calmly.
Do you have NotePC or PocketPC?
First, please check that RTM8000 is connected with them and it can connect with the Internet.

This message is written with my VAIO notebook (Windows XP) connected on Internet with the RTM8000...
So I can connect with RTM 8000 in GPRS with Windows XP (very simply, no problem)...
OK.
I understood that RTM8000 is no problem.
Next, please check a network log.
The figure shown below is the case of the telephone company in Japan.(WCDMA)
It differs from your telephone company.(GPRS)
Please check the portion of the last of a log.
"ip address" and "Gateway" and "DNS", Are these addresses recorded?
1) If there is no record, you have failed in login.
2) If recorded, it will have failed in the ppp session.
In the case of 2), it is hopeless. :(

Ip: 127.0.0.1
Gateway: 33.168.0.0
DNS (nothing)

One more thing, if I create a connection like this:
Connection:
PC (or network) / RTM8000
Network:
Login = password = G
RTM8000
No DNS / IP checked
The script of last post.
I got the icons Book / Shaking hands and then after some time Error 0X1231 (PPP timeout).
BUT if I put NO login / password, I have the icons book / shaking hands and right after an error message in japanese saying something like "Network error"...

Here is the screenshot:
DNS (nothing) WoW!!!
You have the necessity of inputting a DNS address.
And, I translate into English this Error Dialog.
A setup of a network is wrong.

I hard reseted the VZ and tried to do it again...
I made something doing:
Connection (named CF):
PC (or network)
RTM8000
Network:
Login = password = G
Connection used: CF
Details:
DNS (DNS of my ISP)
IP not checked
Script:
Send: ATE0V1
Wait for: OK
Send: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","websfr"
Wait for: OK
Send: ATDT*99#
Wait for: CONNECT
Here is the log result:
S:ATE0V1
R:ATE0V1\r\nOK
S:AT+CGDCONT=1 (and so on)
R:\r\n\r\nOK
S:ATDT*99#
S:\r\n\r\nCONNECT

Ok, I give up...
Everything fails, even "simple" scripts to connect to a "modem" ISP, it seems the PPP dialog fails somehow...
Anyway, I needed a GPRS solution for my VAIO, now I got it ;)
Too bad it does not work on VZ, but I'm not too desapointed...
ummm...
You have failed in the stage of IPCP.
As for it, the problem of timing may be related.
I regret that RTM8000 does not work.
I'm sorry.

I succeeded in making a voice call.
It's simple:

Network: Nothing but phone number: 01234567;
the ";" is really immportant as it tells that the connection is in voice mode, if not, it is in DATA mode.

mini, you have always been a pioneer and I believe you can find the path finally. I wonder if the timing problem you are struggling against is related to the character of Handheld Engine, i.e. variable clock? If so, might CliePet's underclocker have some hints?

Hi lmame.
Internal timing is changed this version.
1) By one interruption processing, data receives 238 bytes as the maximum.
2) Wait of a 30micro second is inserted for every byte.
3) Control by RS-CS is not performed.
Moreover, please try. :)

Well, I tried and it still does not work...
I tried with a standard connection:
Modem:
RTM8000 as modem with AT command AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","websfr" 57600 kb/s (standard for SFR France)
Network:
Login = password = G
RTM8000
*99# (or *99***1#)
PPP enabled
DNS entered
No script
It fails as previously...
If I do not put login / password I got an error (problem of parameters in japanese)
If I do this:
Modem:
RTM8000 as Network (or PC)
Network:
Login = password = G
RTM8000
PPP enabled
DNS entered
Script to connect...
This time it fails on lPCP (timeout)...
Thanks for your efforts ;)
