Avantgo crashing my TH55

Since a few days my TH55 is crashing with a MemoryMgr message whenever i sync my avantgo channels. This occurs using a wireless connection or through usb. Eventually i even had to clear my Clie completely with the Hard reset because a lot of applications (like FileZ, Clie Files, and even the 'info' in the default applications menu) crashed my Clie as well !! :mad: At first i was thinking about a corrupt database but when apps as FileZ don't work anymore there is nothing else to do then clear out the Clie (i have backups :D so i was able to restore my Clie). When i started with a fresh Clie (nothing but rom apps) i loaded avantgo, libsmal, and Mobilelink and tried (tried latest version 5.5 build 110 from Avantgo and an earlier version) to sync my channels but it crashed my Clie again; it allways happens during the channel download. The next step i took was to clear out all of my channels and sync. Guess what happened :eek: ... it crashed again during the download of certain pages you get from Avantgo as free advertisements !! Might these pages be corrupt ??? Anybody seen this or any suggestions how to solve this ?

I liked AvantGo, but also having some problems.. not during sync.. while I'm reading some chanels it crash and asked for a reset.. and after that every time I tried to enter to AvantG it crash until I syncro again..

I used to be a big Avantgo fan, until OS5. Then it just became a soft reset button. I fought it for a very long time until I found iSilo. I have since become an iSilo geek. I cannot imagine not having it. I recently re-tried AG and just kept crashing everytime I tried it. So...you are the weakest app; goodbye!

No issues whatsoever with AG on my TH55. I use it over an hour per day, everyday. Never had a problem with it on my UX50 for that matter either. Nor on my NX80V.

Guess me and AvantGo get along like peas & carrots. :D

I'm having the same problem in the last week. It all seems to start with my USA Today channel. Then I have to resync to recover.

I am not sure how iSilo works but i like Avantgo because i can sync it whenever i want at home using wireless and no need for having a pc to run and get the channels first and then sync. I know i can also use Netfront and go online... but after the sync i can just read my newspaper offline. Plucker is an alternative tool where you need to get the channels first to your pc and then sync them to your Clie. This form has also it's avantages getting the channels automatically in the background but at home with my wireless access point it is so much easier to just sync the channels without the need of a PC ! Till i find a solution for Avantgo the 'plucker' way is probably the only solution for my problem... :confused:

Question: with Isilo can I download information also in WiFI and read offline my chanels like in AG?? can I use the same chanels I´m using inAG now??

No, I'm afraid it must sync with the desktop first like Plucker, but you are only limited to the amount of space on your stick.

Glad to find out I am not the only one. Since there are so many of us having this problem, I suspect it is definitely coming from Avantgo. As you guys I could no use avantgo either via USB or WIFI without having to do a soft reset or getting some "memory error". After trying various solutions, I finally found one that seems to work (so far). I simply created a new avantgo account and then change the settings in my Clie so it would sync my new account. To date things are still working. Cheers.

Thank you very much abzalon ! This was the solution to my problem... just register a new account and everything seems to be working fine again. I still have to get my original channels back but previously without any channel it already crashed. So i am very happy it works ! Now i am convinced it is comming from Avantgo.

i gave up on avantgo a while ago. hadn't used it in a while and tried to update my pages. woudn't sync. saw their message to update, which i did. still no go. asked them for help a couple times and everytime the response was the same (oh, our servers were down...). no, it wasn't that. even deleted all their files and re-installed. didn't help, but it caused the backup to reinstall every application i EVER installed (even if i had deleted them from the handheld). all the dates, reminders, notes, everything had 4 copies (i tried the reinstall that many times).

so out it went. cleaned out all the duplicates, and never reinstalled. good luck to you guys!

I had the exact same problem and have just solved it by going to avantgo.com / my account / advanced commands and cleaning all three ; well I also tried before to create a new account which also worked

I had the exact same problem with version 5.5.110!
I tried a lot of things but nothing helped...

A user at a German forum (Nexave) had the solution:

1. go to myavantgo.com delete all channels :(
2. go to advanced and clear cache, cookies and the third one
3. on your Clie delete (w. Filez) the following:

AGHistory
AGPreference
AGVersion
AvGoDeviceInfo
AvGoPimPod5 (if existing)
SessionDB
(U) MBla' ID:0
(U) MBla' ID:1
(U) AvGo' ID:-4

and for AgConnect:
MBInProfile
MAL SyncLog
(U) MBla' ID:1
(U) MBla' ID:0

(U) unsaved prefs

4. reinstall v. 5.5.110

5. go to my avantgo again and start choosing your channels from the scratch!

For all you guys having these problems...I can't reccommend Uninstall Manager MORE highly. It's an unistaller that when activated and monitoring apps you install, will remove ALL the hidden gunk apps sometimes leave behind.
