It seems when I do a soft reset at times I lose bluetooth capabilities. Then I must perform a hard reset. Has this been happeneing to anyone? Anyone know a fix? I am loving my t5, but this is getting very annoying. For instance if a during a hotsync I cancel it it canc3els on my desktop, but stays cancelling on my t5, until I do a soft reset. Even if I do a reset holding the up button bluetooth is completely gone. The only fix I have found is to do a hard reset, and if I choose my old username it resets normally at the end, and when the t5 comes back up I get a fatal error. The whole hard reset cyclces again, I then make a new name. This is so ANNOYING. cAN ANYONE OFFER ANY HELP? tHANX

well I decided to call palmone about this issue, Since my last post I have had 1 hard reset and username change to get bluetooth back. I am on the phone with them right now actually. I have had my t5 since last saturday and have had to do 22 hard resets and change username to get bt back. I am hoping this is just my model. Has anyone else experienced this? The palm tech is seeing if there is someway to re-nstall the bluetooth files without having to go through all these friggin hard reset/new usernames to get bt back. I will keep u guys posted.

UPDATE: Even though I bought this t5 from compusa last saturday Palmone is sending me a fedex overnight box, and it's not the usual advance exchange like I have done in the past. Not just send the handheld in. They want me to send the t5,all the cables, and cd-rom in. They actually set it up right now for tonight. Fedex called me and said a driver woul be at my house before 8:50pm with a box, and airbill. The rep told me they will be sending me a new unopened t5 once they receive my unit. I am kinda glad to see palmone's service on this. This is the fastest any tech company has helped me. Maybe they need to really fix all the buggy t5's before their official release date. I did ask if my t5 will come with the updated patch, and made sure bt does not go away from a soft reset because a hard reset 23 times in less than a week is ridiculous. She said that with the "new" batches of t5's all updates will be on, and they will make sure my t5 does not have this problem. I hope this turns out to be true, I just can't believe that they setup the advanced return for tonight, and overnight delivery once they recieve my unit.

It is great that they are so responsive, but what are you supposed to use in the meantime? If they picked it up on Friday night it won't be in CA until Monday. By the time it is received, processed, and yours is dispatched you will be lucky if it is Monday, probably Tuesday. That means you will only get yours on Wednesday or Thursday, that is almot a week without it. I can't go one day without mine due to all the business stuff that is on it. Why didn't they do a service exchange so you could at least limp along until the good one showed up?

I'd say that your experience seems to be a solitary issue and this is backed up by Palm sending you the immediate replacement option. I've certainly not had any problems getting my T5 to connect with my phone over bluetooth, it just happens automatically when I tap connect or send/fetch.

I will not be without a palm, I still have my trusty t3. What was haappening with my t5 was I could use bt to surf, check mail, etc. with both my pc and my phone. Once I reset my t5, I would lose bt. I would get a message saying bluetooth files are missing please reinstall. Even if I did a hard reset, and chose my username I would still not get the bt files back. I had to do a hard reset and make a new user name. Palmone said they had no idea what was happening, I guess thats why they took the immediate response they did. I am just wondering why they wanted the cables, cd, and t5, not just the t5, and sending me a new unopened t5 with the updated patch. I am glad to hear that this wasn't happening to others, because in my opinion the t5 is getting a bad rap. I have had a vx,m505,m515,tt,clie nr70v, ux-50, zodiac2, andt3,(didn't list ppc's lol) but the t5 reminds me of the sleek v or m5 family, tablet design, sleek, thin. I know that alot of us have t5's before the "official" release date, so I am hoping that all the bugs will be worked out soon. This could very well be the best palm I have had, it is supper fast, great battery life, bt(mine is an exception), 320x 480 all in that classic palm v'esque casing.

They will have asked for your whole package back as they are sending you a whole brand new unit. What they'll likely do with your old one is fix the problem and then sell it at a reduced price as an open box refurbished item.

All of these bugs are just not acceptable. TWO ROM Patches and the device hasn't even officially shipped yet??? To me, this indicates deep problems at P1/PS.

Palm has lost its way. I do not trust their post-T3 devices with my data. Sad.

Gekko, stop trashing palmone already. Yeah the t5 has bugs, but most of us are (geeks) early adopters of this handheld, and this happens. This handheld isn't even "officially" released. For your comment on post t3 devices, when the t3 was first announced and started getting into our hands it had bugs. Do you not remember the t3 was destroying sd cards? It was not running at 400mhz, more like 375. I don't know why you keep being so negative, I have had one of the worst experiences yet with the t5, and I applaud palmone for the way they handled it. I have owned many, many pda's as you can see in my above post. I always want them right away, and I can tell you almost every pda I have owned when first out has had some bugs, and if those bugs aren't fixed by the manufacturer, some great developer, who you probably found on a message board has a fix for it. Gekko what you are saying is nothing new, us on these boards know as early adopters you are at risk for bugs. You have to remember that the t5 is not running the same os as the t3, which has been out a while. Maybe you assumed that??? It is a new os from palmsource, so with a new os, you are at risk of some bugs and incompatibilities. Maybe you should hold off being an early adopter, then you can almost guarantee yourself a pleasant experience, stop being so negative :)

This handheld isn't even "officially" released.

How do you determine when it's officially released?

Meaning that if you check palmone's official release date, it is in the first week of November, all of us on the board have them before. I am just saying that we got them like 2 weeks before they are widely available in stores, and palmone saying that they would be available Nov 3rd I think, it was the first week oif November.

soccr - P1/PS deserves to be trashed. There is no excuse for their sloppiness/laziness. These are obvious bugs that should have been caught before this pig was released. ONE YEAR of development and this is what they give us??? Lack of features/value AND huge BUGS? They deserve to go out of business if they continue their misguided course. I will not blindy support any company who pisses on my leg and tells me it's raining. I will not be their sucker. Now you might, but I won't. Do they pay you for being their BETA TESTER? I will continue to trash these bastards until if and when they provide value to the customer. And if they die, so be it, and I will piss on their graves!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a sucker Gekko, 2 words for you: anger management. It is a pda for God's sake.

Your above quote: "I will continue to trash these bastards until if and when they provide value to the customer. And if they die, so be it, and I will piss on their graves!!!!!!!!!!!!".

You sound very Mad.... Chill out..... It's a pda...

Do not use aol for palm!!! I posted a few days ago about losing all bluetooth capabilities on my t5. I did a painstaking install of each app to figure out why this was happening. I would install the app, then reset my t5. After I installed aol for palm I got a fatal alert after reset, then did a warm rest(up button) and my bluetooth was gone. I deleted aol, did a rest, and it works perfect!!! This app kicked my a@@ for over a week, and palm sent me a new t5. Live and learn. Do no install aol.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe if you do a soft reset (up button) it's kinda like WIndows Safe mode i.e. a lot of services are not started like BT, at least that's what happens on a T3

yea, it stops certain things from loading. The only way I can get my t5 back on is like that and then delete aol, and the problem goes away. Aol must be messing somehow with the bluetooth files. My t5 is GREAT now, I am using alot of the apps Lance has posted about on here. I am even using aim for palm and thats working fine. I tried installing aol mail again, and got the same results, aol works fine, until I reset my t5. Then this causes a fatal error on startup, until I delete aol from the t5.
