I'm considering buying a TG, but I'm curious - does anyone know the level of bluetooth integration wrt wireless phone features? For example, can I pair my phone and the TG50 and get a notification window on my screen when someone calls? I know I'd be able to use the phone as a modem, but I'm curious if any of the early users out there have had a chance to test out this kind of functionality.

FWIW, I've compared the bluetooth profiles supported by the TG50 to those supported by the Tungsten/T - the only difference is that the T supports the Generic Object Exchange profile, which is geared toward synchronization, file transfer etc. and therefore probably doesn't matter. As such, I can't see any low-level reason why the TG can't perform the same slick tricks as the T/T when paired with a T68i. :)

I tried to transfer files, both via bluetooth or IR from a Sony Ericsson T610 to a Sony Clie TG50. The only one that works are jpg pics, all the others like themes, mid ringtones can only be sent from the clie (with an application like FileManager) but not from the phone back to a Clie.

Does anyone who know of any s/w that can accept Bluetooth/IR transfer from a T610 phone?

With my TG-50 / Siemens s55 combo I can:-

Take pictures on the phone and transfer them to the TG-50

Dial from the address book (see thread about how to set this up if it doesn't work for you)

Send and receive text messages on the TG-50 - bearing in mind you have to send and receive they don't just appear

I have issues when trying to use a BT headset as well and cannot pair them both to my phone (ie I cannot make a call from the TG-50 and speak using the headset). This makes the phonebook dialing a bit useless but I understand some people have had more success by using a Jabra headset (I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-60).

The main use though is for GRPS net access which works quite well.

no, i haven't had any luck with the level of integration that you want. I believe that it is more because of the lack of features in the phone than it is with the TG50. The phone would have to send a signal over the bluetooth connection to wake up the clie, and give it the callerid information. The only possible way to do this right now is to have a virtual COM port connection always on between the two, but that would kill the battery life of both devices.

P.S. I am typing this at my cabin using a TG50 and BT to a T39 phone. The only drawback is that I can't seem to login to Cliesource from here.
