View Full Version : Buy a clie now or later?

I want to start by saying that this forum has some great people with some great insight and I'm glad I found it!
With that said, I really need some of that wisdom on my future purchase of an NX.

I've found a new NX70V/UH (Gunmetal Grey) for about $500 and I'm all set to buy it, but all this talk about an updated NX within the next month has got me reconsidering.
Should I hold out until it's released for the possibility of better camera & memory standards and because it'll most likely drive down the price of the NX70, or will that even be an issue?
Anyone know for sure what Sony's up to?

go ahead and get one now if you can. i have a gunmetal grey NX and it's super cool.

Get whatever fits your needs best, and what you feel comfortable with. I have a SJ20 now (normally my backup unit) that I'm using but I really want a better model with color screen, MP3 playback and voice recording capabilities. The NX series have all of these features, but I'm eyeing the TG50 for it's smaller size.

I would wait, new models are just around the corner. You have to decide, if a new model comes out, will it bother you? With some it does, you should have seen it when the new NZ90 came out.

i know i am like that i have gotten 4 palms in less than 1.5 years and i don't even have a job lol

There will always be a new model somewhere out there, right around the corner, that will entice you.  My boss just got his NZ90 today, and I had the opportunity to get my hands on it for a few minutes, as I helped him solve an application problem.  I would love to have one, but I am content with my NX70.  I'd love to have a bigger and better digital camera, but I have grown accustomed to the one I have, and have decided to live with it, at least until I win the lottery.  I want a bigger and better motorcycle, too.  (Now, THAT dream may actually come to reality sometime this fall!)

tehres basically a new clie out every 3 months...so just get one when you like the one you see, and fits your needs...

i think i'll get the gunmetal NX...
love the color, decent price.
the only thing is the quality of the camera, but i guess i wouldn't be satisfied even with 1 MP.

any thoughts on processor speed and/or memory capability?

After using the Palm Vx for several yrs, I find the speed of the NX70 AWESOME!  The memory is fine, I think, though I am very eagerly awaiting the actual arrival of JackFlash, and would love to see JackSprat functional for OS5.  I presently have a 128mb Memory Stick installed, and use just a small part of it.  Nevertheless, I would not be without it.  I think you will be very pleased with the GunMetal NX.  That was my first choice, but due to a series of problems, it did not work out.  The silver one I have is fine.  I truly depend on the data that it contains, and love the integral camera and slide viewer for taking and viewing pictures of my granddaughter.

Doesn't matter. As soon as you buy the latest palm, something new is coming out the next month or months. I have a gunmetal and it is very unique and impressive. If it fits your need, get it before it goes away.

It is always the same question:
Is the new one better than mine I bought yesterday?
But the real question must be:
Does the new one make anything of my essential needs faster, better or more stable?
I was also deciding whether my needs or my wishes would be satisfied. And I had to come to the conclusion my good old Visor does nearly everything I need- but the NX satisfies my wishes.
So got myself one. Now that I know why I bought the NX I can lean back and enjoy new models WITHOUT having to buy them.
'cause my NX70 does everything I need and far more..
