I have never ordered anything from sonystyle before. I order my TG50 yesterday and was told it would ship no later than today overnight shiping. I still don't have my tracking number so I called and customer service said that it can take up to 2 or 3 business days just to process the order even if you pay for overnignt shipping and the item is in stock. As of right now sonystyle can't confirm when my order will ship so be careful if you expect your order to go out the next business day when paying for overnight shipping becase that ain't happening. Both the person on the live chat and the customer service 800# were very rude and could care less about my order. This will be my first and last order from sonystyle.
so why didn't you cancel your order?

Sorry to hear you get burned like that from Sony. I was hoping the TG50 would be coming out this weekend, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'd say we can expect to see it in stores next week around the 21st.

As of my online shopping experience, you won't get your item by overnight even if you get them the overnight post. What they promise is they will deliever it overnight, AFTER they have finish processing your order and contacting the warehouse. Next time you might need to read the fine prints more carefully, this is just the industrial practice of e-commerce
Wish you luck...I am on a per-order in HK as well...

When I bought my SJ33, the sales rep at the Sony Store told me that I have 30 days if I decide to return my SJ33 for a FULL refund, even if the package is opened and used. A week later, I have decided to return it because of an issue regarding MS Import, and it is strictly a hardware issue. The unit was still in a flawless condition. I told them I want my money back, BUT they want to charge me a restocking fee just because I used the SJ33! Also, after some clarification, I told the sales rep that it was his mistake telling me just a week ago that the return policy was 30 days instead of 10. Then, the manager came out. The manager was a total ***** too. He gave a "don't give a damn" attitude of why "I'm going to charge you a restocking fee". I'm seriously pissed. The only way to avoid the restocking fee was to upgrade to an NR70v which I did.
Then...
I realized there's 3 dead pixels on my NR screen. Sony customer sucks here in Canada too. I told the customer person (who had a very faint voice) to ask them if the dead pixels in my NR70v is covered by the warranty, and he just suggested to me that to take it back where I purchased it from.
Wow, great job Sony. That help me a lot.

According the the customer service lady i spoke to you can refuse the shipment when it arrives- there is no way to cancel and order for and instock item!- But I would be charged in full for the overnight shipping anyway. Plus She admitted that the website is not truthful and is intentionally missleading about when an order actually ships.

Honestly, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at that place! I've had my own order-fulfillment/cancellation nightmares with them. I refer to their customer service as "the Labrynth" because you can really get lost in their system & not know where the heck you stand. It's unreal!
On top of that, I've ordered AIBO software & memory sticks from them that were inadequately protected and arrived in smashed boxes. I have ordered some things with them and been pleased. But they are really hit or miss. I avoid them when I can. I have to pay tax from SonyStyle purchases anyway, so I may as well buy at a local retailer, save on shipping and aggravation, if I decide to get a Clie. I'm still on the fence.
Oh, I forgot to add I've only dealt with a nice, polite rep there. He was absolutely tops, but he seemed to need permission for even the simplest things, like ensuring he could honor a free shipping deal I had on an original order that SonyStyle cancelled by accident and failed to allow me to reinstate before the deal expired.

sounds like the only problem Sony really has is shipping from SonyStyle... maybe they are throwing all their bad corporate luck there in order to put out these awesome Clie's?

Add me to the victim list. I guess they cover themselves by saying "usually ships the next day" my order still says "in process" since thursday. Are you guys sure there's no way to cancel the order?

I just got the runaround from Alexis at sony style live chat. She quoted the sony website: "n Stock Items: Sony Style endeavors to ship our customer?s orders as quickly as is possible. This means that we do not ?hold? an order for an In-Stock product for 24-hours as is the practice of some online shopping sites. For In-Stock products, it is not possible to cancel an order once an order has been placed. For In-Stock products, once the order has been placed, it can not be cancelled by customer request. Although it is not possible to cancel an order for an In-Stock product, it is possible to refuse delivery of the product. To refuse delivery of an item that you do not want, please tell the carrier that you do not accept the delivery." and then I asked if I ordered on Thursday then why didn't it go out Friday. She replied the website isn't always updated with the shipping info but when I asked if there was even a chance it was shipped out, she couldn't even say it might have gone out. Useless I'd say. I wish I would have read this post first. I was going to cancel to save the shipping and purchase it local but I might as well just wait and see what happens now.

macsnjets, I'm really sorry you're stuck like that. It has happened to me. I was able to put in a cancellation because they had no clue when they would restock the product I pre-ordered, but had gotten cheated out of because they keyed in my credit card info wrong and voided it, and tossed me out of the fulfillment queue. Even though they accepted my cancellation, they couldn't tell me if the cancellation would be processed quickly enough before the order would in fact be fulfilled. They must have one horrendously inefficient order fulfillment system there. I wish you luck, and I hope when your Clie does arrive, it will be everything you hoped for.
As for the option to refuse shipment, that is still a horrible inconvenience to people just because you still have to keep track of the delivery of a product you no longer want. Been there, done that, hated it.

Ouch sorry to hear that. I'm not sure if Sony changed their money back guarentee recently but I've purchased numerous items from a Sony retail store in Calgary, Alberta. Basically all hardware purchases had a 30 day money back guarantee. The little advertisement I read at their store said they would refund your money in full for any reason as long as you had original packaging and it wasn't broken or something. This especially applied if you were not satisfied with it.
Also, dealing with the bad service in the store, I'd suggest trying a different sony store for future reference (if there are others in the area). I guess it just depends on the people working there as I've been lucky enough to enjoy excellent service from them.
That's all I have to say and good luck with your future purchases.
