For an unknown reason, I cannot start my Clie Camera. (as well as Movie Recorder) With or without memory stick is the same. Attached file is a screenshot of what I encountered. (It said: Unknown error occured in Multimedia System. CLIE Camera will abort.) Does anyone know what's wrong with my machine?

There are some "suspious" actions I've made...
- I've assigned QuickLaunch Anywhere in my ZLauncher, assigned the 4th button
- Just ran the new FullMoviePlayer for a few times

My guess is that you loaded something you shouldn't have when you installed FMP or the movie recorder. What did you install with FMP? Just one PRC file? Or did you install something else?

I just run it on the memory stick.

The worst of all, a hard reset cannot solve my problem.....

A hard reset doesn't solve the problem?

Just to make sure, did you do the following:

(1) Remove the memory stick.

(2) Reset while holding down the power button.

(3) When prompted, you pushed the LEFT button.

(4) You're in the Welcome program, being prompted to calibrate the digitizer.

(5) You open the camera.

(6) The camera application starts.

At this point, you get the error?

If so, the problem cannot be software related, unless you happen to have something that writes to Flash (which is doubtful).

Ok, assuming that you have installed the UX50 AvxMQTParser, here's what you probably need to do. Use Filez or Clie Files, find the AvxMQTParser file in your handheld memory (not in ROM). Select the file and either move it off of your handheld onto your card (for future use) or delete it. Then perform a soft reset. That should take care of the problem.

I've gotten this error after about 2 weeks to a month after installing the AvxMQTParser from the UX50. It seems that it somehow corrupts something in the Camera or Movie Recorder.

Burns, good tip. But Valclierie says this happens after a hard reset. Which means that the UX50 AvxMQTParser won't be on the device. Unless it somehow gets copied to FlashROM.

Exactly, I've removed the MS for the hard reset, and I haven't installed the UX50 AvxMQTParser before. (I run it from MS) I suspect that there are something happening to the so-called ROM. Is it writable? On the otherhand, is the "hard-reset" really that hard? I'm very upset now as my TH55 is from US, so no local warranty :(

Yes, it's really "hard" in that it does erase everything. While I suppose it's theoretically possible for FlashROM to become corrupted, ROM cannot be (via software). ROM can be corrupted via physical trauma or significant radiation of various sorts. Not likely here.

Sounds to me like you're going to need to get it serviced. Since it's a US model, you'll need to send it to the US. I'd suggest that you call or e-mail Sony and explain that your situation. Ask if there are any additional fees to have it mailed back to you in Hong Kong.

I have the same problem and it was caused by AvxMQTParser and also Movie Recorder! I deleted them from handheld memory and install them and run them form my MS and now my 55 works perfect!!

note.- Once I copied AvxMQT to my MS I move it back to to ram.

I hope this help

Thanks everybody!! I've returned the machine to the retail shop anyway, they said it will takes about 3 weeks >.<

NB: However, my AvxMQTParser is located in the ROM, so I cannot delete it.

I know it sounds crazy, but I actually had this happen to me. Even after a hard reset, the error still showed up. I finally resolved it by installing the AvxMQTParser, running the Clie Camera/Movie Player and making it crash, and then uninstalling the file. It worked for me. Don't ask me why. I'm a computer programmer and I still can't figure out why a hard reset didn't fix it.

Sorry for bother you, but...

Is your "AvxMQTParser" from UX50 or TH55?
How to make it crash?

I had a similar problem when I installed the movie recorder and tried to change the settings of photos, such as using sepia. After I tried changing those settings I had a similar error occur. I fixed it by reinstalling the movie recorder and not ever changing those settings. This is probably no good to you, but thought it might help someone else.

Faulty camera is one of a few known issues - A number of us have had the exact same problem, myself included.
The only way to sort it out is to send it in for repair...

I had the error described [Unknown error occured in Multimedia System. CLIE Camera will abort], which was still there after a hard reset. Sony replaced the camera unit and all was well [except when they returned it they left a body shell screw out......but that's another topic]

Good luck with yours

Philip
