Remote Camera

The review mentions the Remote Camera app. Does anyone know any more about this? Are there any still digital cameras supported? I don't know of any Sony Cameras with bluetooth.

I think it only works with certain models like the FX77 (I think that's the right model number), and other Sony digital camera models. It's an awesome feature, and I'm excited to hear they kept it on the TG50. The same piece of software was with the NZ90 in Japan, but was pulled before a US release. When I get my TG50, I hope to get a Bluetooth adapter so I can wirelessly HotSync, and a Bluetooth printer or adapter for my DeskJet 722c. It will just take time so I can get all of those tings.

I tested the remote-cam-application yesterday at the CeBIT on a NZ90. It was quite cool, but I do not see the purpose of this feature. I used a FX77 camera - AFAIK there is no other supported model. The clie-Software runs, according to Sony, on every Clie with BT.

Remote Camera allows a BT clie and/or a Sony USB dongle-equipped computer to remotely control the FX77 dig cam and some of the newer camcorders with BT.

It is not overly practical, considering the limited range of BT, but it is neat! Plus, isn't it nice that some companies are willling to try something new?? Then others are inspired to adapt and develop new apps.

I've got the bluetooth equipped Sony DSC-FX77 (great camera btw) and I'm going to buy a TG-50 in Japan next month - looking forward to hooking these two up for the Remote Camera function.... Apparently you can set up the camera/clie with motion detection so the camera takes a pic when it detects motion. a sort of fun/cool security system...

Can the image from the cam be seen on the clie with this application?

yes, you have a small live-picture and if you take a photo (with the clie) it will be send vie BT at once. I'm not sure about the resolution. Sony told me, that you can change this, but it es not the full cam-resolution.
