NYCWireless Settings

Is anyone connecting at any of the hotspots listed on nycwireless.net? I can't figure out the settings to get connected. I tried in Bryant Park this afternoon and had no luck connecting. What do i set the ssid too? Thanks.

SSID: any

IP & DNS set to auto

powersaveon: unchecked

Where have you successfully done this in NYC? I'm going to try with those settings at Bryant Park today or tomorrow.

No I haven't tried it in NYC, sorry. The settings I gave are generic for sniffing out any LAN's nearby that are open.

Although I am kinda new to this site I hope I can be of some help.

I have never connected myself, I am going to try it probably sometime this week. On their site it says to have your ESSID as www.nycwireless.net (http://www.nycwireless.net/). When I try it out, that is what I intend to have as my SSID, since it says Network ID. I may be wrong but what's the worst that could happen?  IP should be set to auto. Try it both ways with powersave, checked and unchecked.

It worked with the SSID posted. Tried it last week in Bryant Park and it worked fine. I'll try it again this Thursday when I'm in the city.
