I was reading a post on a different website and it spoke of some problems with the T3. I was thinking of purchasing one at the new low price. Are there any known problems with the T3?

SD Card problems
Screen Whine
Etc.

-Thanks

Yes, there are.

Digitizer, slider, battery life, etc.

Search...and ye shall find. ;)

I heard about a lot of people complaining about the whining of the screen, some don't hear it and some don't notice it.

Some Hires and Hires+ screens seem to be affected by screen buzzing. You have a chance of getting it on nearly every recent Palm1 device, but when buying anything electronic, you could end up with a lemon. The only solution is ... to buy nothing at all. ;)

A lemon implies a bad unit mixed in with good units. The screen buzzing seems to be congenital with the TE's. I've had two, and I've heard from others. I checked a unit on display at Staples yesterday and it was buzzing away. It's a design flaw.

I've personally checked several different PPC brands and never heard anything from them. My T5 is silent (so far).

Several problems were corrected with the ROM update, such as the SD Card issue and slow performance.
I've had a T3 for 8 or 9 months and not had any problems with the Digitizer, screen whine, or screws falling out. In fact I've had no problems at all. :)

I've had a T3 for as long as they have been out, the only problem for me is the digitizer issue which just cropped up a few months ago, and from what I've read it seems to be the norm. i.e. sooner or later you will get the digitizer problem to some degree and I would imagine it will be the same case for the T5 if they are using the same screen assemblies. i.e. it's appears to be a hardware problem, although there is a software app. DigiE that helped my problem a little bit.

Never had the screen whine, screws have not fallen out, I don't consider the slider a "problem", battery life has never been a issue for me and currently the T3 has more "power" options available to it than the T5.

With the price drop on the T3 and the US$ suffering a little, I think I'll go and get another one :)

welll i havent experienced the SD, digitizer or screen buzzing (still really cant believe that one no matter how many people post).. so there are some good T3 units out there Mach (i have the screen with the 4 orange stage lights).

Also, the SD card issue has been dealt with so if you buy new, it will have been patched. AND is you do experience the digitiser pronlem, its easily fixed apparently using the freeware programme 'DigiE'.

one theory is that the display with the four stage lights does not buzz, but the other one does. That is true in my case, stage lights = no noise

That's not true in all cases, my T3 doeas NOT have the "stage lights" and it does NOT whine nor buzz, unless the frequency is too high for me to hear.
