I can't find any clie games worth playing.

I've got and like the scrabble game, a chess game... and I stumbled across a game where you sell cargo in space and travel from one planet to the next making profits to upgrade your ship and fight off pirates and the like.

The space game was rather neat and entertained me for two days but I couldn't bring myself to pay $15 for a game a normal desktop user wouldn't pay $0.25 for.

I've kept my mouth shut for a long time because I've heard the rants against people not wanting to fork over the money to programers for their crappy games... but I can't keep quiet any longer.

The quality of the games out there are pre-Texas Instraments 1984 quality and no way I'm paying anyone anything for this crap. Hee.

Anyway, I'm looking for a text or SJ-20 (read: no color) type strategy game that deals with progressive improvement of character/ship/city... some sort of a game that offers a lot of thinking and no silly "Space Invaders" play that got boring after I turned 10 yrs. old. :D

It won't give you any fancy graphics but SimCity is nice to play

I don't want high end graphics.. I'd be pleased as punch if it was compete text based. I'm just looking for quality, not a game that looks like a 12 year old in his basement cranked it out in 30 minutes. ;)

Experiment, there are a lot of real games avail especially for the Clie. Check the games section on this site, but just for some suggestion take a look at games like Pocket Mahjongg, Bejeweled, Bump Attack, Race Fever, V-Rally, Sim City orZap 2016. All of them are a little better then the games durin the 80s (as far as i remember none of them offered 16 bit graphx ;) ). Or simply try one of the best development during the last years : ScummVM by chrilith where you could play almost all of the LucasArts adventure in full resolution on your Clie.


ps : ckshaf012, a XBox for high quality games ? A XBox ;) ? Thats the most dead console out there. So perhaps you suggest next time real platforms like the PS2 and not useless junk like the XBox which dint even offer one single game in its first year.

Space Trader is free and is a very good game, sounds similar to what you were playing.

Sorry I still play dopewars, It was Grand Theft Auto before it was cool to be GTA, and it's freeware. Simple, text based, and a whole lot of fun.

massman, theres no need to justify anything cause PS2 is gaming and the XBox doesnt have a real single game (no, stone old PS2 or PC ports arent real games). So if you talking bout console gaming its talking bout PS2 (cause of the second best graphx out there (take a look at Onimusha 2 and show just one single game which offers at least half as good graphx on the XBox) and every game out there is released for the PS2. Thats cause almost any console sold out there is a PS2 and developers developing mainly for hardware which is even sold :) ) or bout the GC (with the way best graphx out there (on consoles - take a look at Resident Evil One .... by far the best graphx ever seen in a game) and the best first and second party developers (from Nintendo, Capcom, Silicon Knight, etc.) on any console), but forget bout advertising a dead and useless piece of trash like the XBox with almost no first party support and minimal second and third party support, which simply means what i mentioned at the beginning : no games for this console.
So better place your Microsloth advertising in a forum for MS junkies. They surely need some help after they realized that they spent $ 259 for nothing ;) .

joecat, there were more then three Zork episodes. It were Zork I, II, III, Beyond Zork, Zork Nemesis, Return To Zork and Zork : Grand Inquisitor. And if you mean the ones which are compatible with the Infocom interpreter engine it should include Beyond Zork too (beside I, II, III indeed ;) ).

I have 3 eppisodes of zork I do believe they are the first 3.
My zcode interputer of choice is pilot-frontz if you know of a better one please let us know I tried a couple others but they seemed incomplete compared to frontz.

I know since I am a "newbie" and all here, I shouldn't pick any fights, but...

At least support your claims that the "Xbox sux" with facts and not useless conjecture. I own all 3 next gen systems and play my Xbox more than both the PS2 and GC combined. The PS2 *is* severely lacking right now except for one or two good games, but I can name at least 10 great Xbox games right now.

Tachion, not one real classic. Not even a small classic avail for the XBox. Its just nice games which you get anywhere else way better as some real classic. Right now (and not only cause of the fact that most of its games are stone old ports from the PS2, DC or PCs) the XBox is mainly a "me too" machine. Perhaps when MS bought a few dozen more game companies it will become useful for gamers, but right now .... "me too" (even one of the highly expected titles like Crazy Taxi 3 were just another "me too" title :( ). For the PS2 on the other side you got this XMas alone titles like WRC II Extreme, Onimusha 2, Devil May Cry 2, Eternal Kingdom, GTA Vice City, ATV Offroad Fury II, Burnout II, Formula One 2002, Lord Of The Rings Two Towers, Primal, etc. etc.). And this is just one XMas, which doesnt include at least 2 more dozens of real classics avail only (!) for the PS2 (i have to mention here Ico, which is simply the best game ever. There werent any game title since the Commodore 64 days which is that astounishing and complete like that one).

And take a look at the GC : Pikmin, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, Super Monkey Ball (thats one of the best fun titles ever), Starfox Adentures, Metroid Prime, etc. .

At the XBox : Lets call Halo for gods sake a classic (which it isnt at all, cause it missed its window of oportunity. One year earlier released (which would had happened if MS wouldnt bought Bungie and destroyed the complete Halo development which were almost done by then) and it would have been a real classic. But now in the daze of Unreal Torunament 2003 and Doom 3 its just another ego shooter similiar to games like Red Faction II) and lets think that Virtua Fighter 4 and Tekken 4 were never released and call even button basher DOA 3 a classic. But thats it. Nothing else out there. Even the potential hit Crazy Taxi 3 failed completely :( (im really sorry bout that, cause Crazy Taxi were one of the best fun racer since Out Run).

Thats why the XBox isnt sold out there. Thats why Sony sold more PS2 during the year the XBox existed then before the XBox were released (even 10 million times more (30 million durin 2002 compared with 20 million during 2001)). Sorry to tell ya, but the game industry is where the market share is. And the XBox doenst have any market share at all. The same scenario is true for the GC, but thisplatform has at aleast the best first and second party developers (Nintendo, Capcom, Silicon Knights, etc.).

Conclusio : Nice that you like to play old, ported games on your XBox, but thats not gaming at all as almost anyone out there thinks bout it ;) .

There's another zcode int for Palm called Frobnitz.
