After reading a number of threads on this board and a number of different methods, some of them quite cumbersome I finally found a simple way of converting divx movies to the NX 70 using kinoma player.
The following method doesn't require any specific set-up. It just works perfectly using the default configration of the various software.
Step 1 Ripping
------------------
Use Osex to ripp and generate a VOB file. ( dont split the files into elementary files )
Step 2 Encoding to Divx
------------------------------
Use MacDivxCreator.
Input file VOB
Output file AVI ( Video Codec Divx4 + Audio Compression MP3)
Step 3: Split the AVI file if too big
------------------------------------------
Use splitme
Input file : AVI
Output file: 2 AVI's
I have noticed that the final size of the pdb will be about the same size than the original AVI file so cut the file into chunks that are smaller than 128 MB. ( until the new MS are available)
Step 3 Decompressing and Generating a QuickTime movie
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use QT6
Input file : AVI
Output file: MOV
No specific parameters required.
Step 4 Generating a Kinoma movie
--------------------------------------------
Use Kinoma producer 1.5
Input file : MOV
Output file: pdb
No specific parameters required
Step 5 Transferring pdb file to the MS
-----------------------------------------------
Using MSimport, copy the file into the lancher directory on the MS
The above method works perfectly. Image quality is outstanding and sound is working fine.
Wish List for the NX70 and related software :
---------------------------------------------------------
a) MS with bigger capacity : Coming soon
b) DIVX player ? or possibility to be able to convert directly an avi file with DIVX codec with Kinoma hence eliminating step 3 in the previous method.
c) support for VBR mp3 files.
Hope it helps
