Hi,
I have this problem:
1) I have installed TT 4.12
2) I have copied the folder "Italia Navigator Map" containing 12 files (cline.dat, cname.dat, cnode.dat, faces.dat, Italia.mid, Italia.pna, mapinfo.dat, poi.dat, setup.dat, tmccodes.pr3, tmcpaths.bfl, traffic.dat) in the root directory of MS
Well, when I start the app., after the choose of language and voice etc., I have this message: "No Maps found".
Can you help me please?
Thanks.
Sorry for my bad english ;)
When I remember well there also needs to be a map (in the root) "TomTom" containing appr. 20 Data**.CHK files and a map called "TomTom-Cfg".

You need the directory (/Tomtom)
and in this directory the files
DATA.CHK
DATAxx.CHK (xx is 01 to 99 for different voice-files)
*.bin (for german version it is munich.bin)
setup.dat
TMCCODES.PR3
TMCPATHS.BFL
Traffic.dat

Traffic.dat
When installed, I have in the TomTom directory only these files:
data.chk
Munich.bin
setup.dat
and the file start.prc in \Palm.
The other files are in the Map directory (Italia Navigator Map);
1) can I copy them from that?
2) where is the place of map directory? \TomTom or other?
Thanks. ;)
I have TomTom 4.40 running(upgrade from 4.12).
My MS has folders:
\TomTom with the following files:
data.chk
data15.chk (I think soundfiles)
munich.bin
setup.dat
\TomTom Nederland Map with the files
Cline.dat
Cname.dat
cnode.dat
faces.dat
mapinfo.dat
poi.dat
nederland.mid
nederland.pna
setup.dat
tmccodes.pr3
tmcpaths.bfl
traffic.dat
and in the \palm folder: start.prc
this works for sure, together with my globalsat bluetooth BT308 GPS mouse

I have found it impossible to install maps using a card reader or file transfer. They have only "appeared" within Tomtom when I install using hotsync, which can take hours! Has anyone else installed directly and, if so, how....?

The map directory is /Italia Navigator Map
You can install all files to the /TomTom directory, but then you won“t be able to change between different maps.
BTW: how did you format your card? windows or palm? If windows try formatting it with your palm an reinstall tomtom.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I have one question for Tom Tom users on the TH55: when using TOM TOM with voice directions on the TH55, can you have audioplayer playing music in the background? If so how do the directions get spoken? does the music stop and then start again? is it at the same time?... Also where can I buy the Tom Tom v4 software only (all I can see on sale is bundled offers with GPS for Palm Tungsten etc.)

edeplano, I have just done a very basic test with AP running in the background. The voice prompts over-rode the MP3 track then the system returned to the music. I haven't run it on a proper route, but will give it a whirl and let you know.
As for the software, you just need to purchase a licensed, unregistered version of the Navigator 3 for Pocket PC disc, which reputable eBay sellers have in abundance without the GPS. Don't waste your time on cracked or used versions, you will never get an activation code that works on Palm with them. That disc contains the Palm software (usually version 4.00) which you then upgrade to 4.12 and then 4.40 through the Tomtom website. The activation key that you get from Tomtom won't work until you are running at least 4.12, after that it all works a charm. I don't know where you are located, but I got my disc 2 weeks ago for £100 and am over the moon with the program.
Version 4.40 has support for point of interest handling (see the Pocket GPS World website for more info) and provides warnings for saftey cameras and such. Go on, indulge yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks for your prompt reply weelogic! I might buy myself an early xmas present! Any advice on a BT GPS that's small and compatible with the setup?

I use a Dconnex DC230 that's rechargeable and seems to last several hours on each charge. I haven't had any compatibility problems with it.

edeplano, alas Audio Player does not seem to run in the background. What I have found after several attempts is that Tomtom won't open the bluetooth devices search to connect to the GPS while AP is playing. It must be something to do with Palm not allowing more than one background app at the same time. Roll on Cobalt (ha!, like we will ever see it on anything other than smartphones...)

Any further updates? I too always get maps not found error despite what I rename the 'map folder name' to. What on earth am I and others doing wrong?
Yours frustrated.
