View Full Version : Free SkinT3! reg code for two T5 testers

The first two T5 users from this forum willing to try out and check whether my SkinT3! DIA skinning program (see www.zlthemes.com/Programs.php) for the T3 also works on the T5 will get a free reg code (of course this is only really good for you if it either works or if I can make it work). Of course, alas, it's at your own risk: I don't have a simulator, so I have no test data. The screenshots I've seen show a DIA area that looks the same.

Email me at ap85 at georgetown dot edu if interested.

I'll try it...

Tried it on the Garnet simulator and it get's an "error reading or opening ROM skin", could just be the simulator??

Thanks,
LanceWell, it does not appear to be working. I get the following error when I try to load F3T3AgSkinSimplyGrey. It works fine on the T3.

I was thinking about something like this earlier today. Can we use the HighRez+ skins from - YiShow, Zlauncher, etc. for backgrounds on the T5's "Favorites", Applications, or Agenda pages?
Maybe someone with a Zire 72 can tell us if they were able to use other pre-made photo files for skins. This new version OS may prevent it .

Thanks a lot!

I assume this alert happens on loading.

Could you check the Geeky skin that is included?

Alex,

It walks me through the process to load the skin, and then reset the device to change color depth. After the reset, it is as if I did not do anything. Meaning...the default DIA still is displayed. What is weird is that when I went to SkinT3, the Geeky skin is highlighted like it is active. I try to load it, and it acts as though it is already loaded.

I did not get any error messages this time, though. ;)

It worked fine on the T3.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Lance

Thanks!

Have you tried loading a skin directly without SkinT3? For instance, just hotsync'ing one of the non-T3BG skins from:

Lance:

On the T3, the skin is stored in a ROM database named "StatusBarResources" of type 'rsrc' and creator id 'sBar'. Could you check with Filez if you have any ROM databases with this name or this creator id? (You might have one in RAM because of your experiments with SkinT3!, since SkinT3! creates such a database in RAM. But it's the ROM one that we're looking for.)

If you don't have it, we're going to have to look for where the skin is now stored.

Thanks!
Alex

The StatusBarResources database is in ROM.

Thanks! That's promising. Have you tried to hotsync the Zen-Blu skin?

AlexWhen I HotSync'd the ZenBlu skin, it did not automatically ask me to reset my device. When I manually soft reset the device, it gave me the following error:

MemoryMgr.c, Line:3740, Free Handle

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Lance

I've just done a little experiment and it seems that backgrounds from favourites only reads from the Media program. I took a photo with my camera phone and beamed it to the T5, saved it in Media and it then offered it as an option for a background. It won't read any images from Splash Photo. I'd guess it's looking for .jpg files, but you might be able to use the .prc backgrounds for ZLauncher & stuff. I'll see if I can copy one into Media and make it work.

Looks like it only likes .jpg files as backgrounds for Favourites. If any finds a method to use the .prc backgrounds, please let me know!

Lance reports that my SkinT3! 1.31 (alpha) works on the T5. I've made some tweaks, and produced SkinDIA! 1.31, which should work on the T5. I'd like one more beta tester (again, a free reg code is available).

Note that SkinDIA! should let you load any T3 DIA skin on a T5 (I haven't yet tested a full range of skins, though--in particular, I haven't yet tested ext kbd skins).

Email me at ap85 at georgetown dot edu to volunteer to test.

SkinDIA! is working very well on the T5. I have tested the basic settings, and it is working well.

Thanks,
