Can a guy that knows how to work a soldering iron and has a Clie out of warranty buy the Li-Ion rechargeable battery and put it in myself? Or maybe a website that can do it for me? I've googled it several times but nothing comes up. Sony wants to charge more than a couple of tanks of gas for this "service," plus loosing my Clie for a couple of weeks.
I've already tried laptopsforless.com but they're out of stock...
Thanks

You can buy any N-Series (n600/610/710/760/770) clie to to swap the battery out with. One with a broken screen or pysical damage that you can get on ebay or some place like here. I know I paid $56.00 for a N610 that won't work (bad main board) on ebay to replace my screen on my N710. So now I have an extra battery and digitizer for problems in the future.
Also, there is no soldering. The battery plugs in with a small connector.
Here's the link that I used to get my Clie apart.

Thanks for the advice, but the problem is, I wanted a brand new battery. I'm afraid if I go Ebay, I'll have the same problem in a couple of months.
