I'm a new proud owner of a NZ, having switched from NR70V. I don't have kids, and don't mind (for now) spending the money.

Just wondering - what features would it take you to spend more than $799 (for the next high end Clie)?

Or would you even spend more than $799?

Probably a few years ago, none of us thought we'd spend this much on a PDA.

Cheers

Nothing. More than $799 that is too much for a computer that you carry in your hand, it is too vulnerable.

I also have a problem spending that much...I couldnt live without my Clie but its just a T615 and it does everything I need it to. I do like the higher end machines but dont see the extra $650 worth of functionality (that would be used on a daily basis). Also $799 is getting up there in laptop area - that I could justify more than a PDA.

Just as Cellular Phones have become a 'norm' in the world today..... so will PDAs. I do think, over time the prices will begin to drop on them. Sony has started this, I believe, with releasing models on a fairly frequent basis. This, in my opinion, is no different than how the PCs flood the market, and what you bought today... might not be worth as much 2-6months down the road. The PCs nowadays have a much higher depreciation rate than they did 10 years ago. I do feel the same will be true for PDAs. I think the biggest-best-fastest whatever PDAs which first hit the market will be the most expensive... but as more and more releases come out... that will help drive down the cost to the end-user. I'm not really sure what Sony's plan is.... but with the new Pro Sticks which will be coming out soon..... I think they have plans for these in the PDA world. I read an article yesterday about the new MS coming out... and in theory they will be able to put 32gb on a MS. The plans are already for 256mb, 512mb and 1gb sticks. The more versitile the PDA is... the better. The more built into one... the better, at least that is what I think. For those applications which seem to have issues running on MS even with 3rd parth software...... I think 32mb would be sufficient for internal RAM. I also think they should incorporate WiFi into the unit similar to what the H5455 has in the PPC world. I see the front-runners in the Handheld world are the H5455 and the NZ90. In order for PalmOS Devices to keep their sharehold in the PDA world ..... I think this will become necessary to not only have what the PPC devices have.... but to offer MORE than what the PPC Devices have. Depending on what the PDA comes with..... I'd go as high as $1k .... but that is me.

I figure that if a significantly better PDA comes out within the next 12 months which would really give me everything I want ..... I'll probably get it and sell my NZ90 (hopefully getting around $450-500 for it. That would mean I only have to pay Out Of Pocket around $500 if a unit for $1k comes out.

I would probably pay more...

This could tempt me.

Build in WIFI

Solid support for CD cards and MicroDrive

Camera with 100% manual featuers

LOTS of RAM

I had my nx70v 2 days and was taking a picture of friends and it hit the concrete, It made me so sick to see $600 hit the ground, now I use the hand strap and make sure it has a protective case unless I am in my house, but at that point, I knew that was too much money to be walking around with.

I think it's gonna take awhile for the NZ owners to upgrade.
