I have saved 2 backups from my MS card to a folder on my computer (using BackUpMan to make the backup and MS Import to move it ). The extension is different:

"Automated Backup - Mar 12.set"

Is the 'set' part normal? If I would need to restore one of these, would I just move it to the card in the same folder that it came out of, once again using MS Import?

Probably, but you should really run a test to be sure. For the test, do the following:

1) Run a current backup using Backupman.
2) Perform a hard reset.
3) Run MSImport, and copy one of backups from your PC to the Backupman directory on the MS.
4) Run BackupMan, and do a reset with the backup set you moved from the PC.
5) Play around with this for awhile; did it restore properly?
6) Perform another hard reset.
7) Run BackupMan and restore the backup you made in step 1.

Let us know how it worked. I also use BackupMan and have done restores after hard resets, and I know that part works, so you're not really risking anything doing this test. If you haven't ever tested backup software (or anything else) where you need to do a hard reset, it makes your heart beat a little fast, but there's no need to worry about it. If you really want to be safe, also do a backup using MSBackup before you start step 1.

Annie,

I keep 3 rolling MS Backups on two memory sticks.

I keep 3 rolling backup copies of my main memory stick on my hard drive .

It has saved me a few times when I had to wipe everything clean. i.e., a hard reset, reformat the memory stick, and clean out my desktop HotSync backup folder.

You can't have too many backups. The reason for rolling backups is do to not realiziing that you have a problem in the waiting. You, without knowing, can contaminate a backup. I have found out the hard way, LOL! Practice makes perfect. In other words, backup the backups, someday you'll thank me for it, ha-ha:)!
