CROSS POST FROM VIDEO FORUM:
I've tried FMP on my TH55 and have come up short. I installed all of the codecs from the VZ90 and I get a crash when I try to pull in a sample mp4 copied to /MOVIES/
Anyone have some pointers to offer to get FMP working on a TH55?
I'd really like to use ffmpeg on my Mac to encode movies. I can't run IC on the Mac.

I use cliepet's fill movie player on my TH55. I also use a mac. The only way I've been able to get movies to play is to use a program called open shiiva(converts vob files to mp4) then use Compresor(if you have final cut pro) to convert to MPEG 1 files. The full movie play works great with these. I have found that the quality using compressor is actually better than using IC II( I do have a windows laptop) I have not lost any picture quality, nor do I have lip sync issues that I get with Kinoma. I know that not everybody has final cut pro, I however have had no luck with ffmeg. Hopefull, somebody will find out what exactly mp4 files the clie will take that can be converted on a mac. So far, using compressor has worked very well for me. Thank Cliepet for his efforts, his full movie player if great, especially version .03, we now have volume adjust with the jog dial. Hope this helps fellow mac users.

BTW: Codec installation is optional - not required to use Full Movie Player. IMHO it isn't worth the hassle, unless you want to use IC2.

But the codecs are required in order to play .MP4 files with FMP aren they?
Also when I get the 'soft reset' error, all I have to do is to open the normal movie player and open FMP again

did you do a soft reset after installing codec files, and then run FMP to play mp4 movie?

(also see the table at the top of http://www.aibohack.com/clie/fullmovie.htm for combinations)

On the TH55 and UX40/50 yes - you need the VZ90 codecs to play .MP4 files. Not needed if you have a VZ90.
FMP will use them if there, otherwise will give "unsupported movie format" error if you try to play .MP4 files.
Please post/read about problems with codec installation here: http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69398
Installing the codecs can be a tricky business. If you don't install them properly (with a proper version of McFile), it may create 84byte versions in RAM.
Soft reset required. Some people have reported the camera screwing up....
(ie. the first time you try, it is easier to get it wrong than to get it right ;-)
IMHO: not worth the extra work if you already have been watching movies with your UX/TH, assuming you have a process of using IC1.
----
FullMoviePlayer will play back MPEG1 or QuickTime MQV/MOV on all model CLIEs that it support (NX, NZ, TH, UX, VZ) - with no extra codecs required (ie. just like the built in MoviePlayer)
If a high bit rate movie, you may have problems on some of the older models.

Wow!! The new v4 is really cool. Customizable buttons, black background, and all of the scaling ratios are perfected. Thanks Cliepet, you make me happy that I bought a TH-55.

Hi CliePet,
First of all thanks a lot for your effort and you are truely an amazing guy. :-)
Yes. all the additional new fuction ( v0.4) looks cool and good, but i think v0.3 is more stable than this version.
My TH55 hang up everytime when i try to play some Mpeg1 files, I think it is trying to get some info from the file and it end up hanging up.
I don't have any problem with v 0.3. It works without any problem with the same "mpeg 1" file.

Yes. Lock up..nothing can be done. ( nothing is responding) not even hardware button.. i think it is trying very hard to get the movie info or something.. that is why it freeze up.. i wait for about 10 second and i decided not to wait anymore and reset my TH55, I tried with v0.3. no problem at all.

Very interesting, I do not have this problem. Have you tried different files. It could just be the one you used.

Yes. I did, Somehow some files will hang and some don't, i don't know what is the different :-) too bad.. the looks the same.. i downloaded from same website and they are just about 1.5 Megs on average. ( I have 50 of them in my MS, could that be a problem ??,, i don't think so.. since v 0.3 work just fine.)
